Vonage Communications APIs & Applications:

As an emerging leader in the $10B+ communications API market, we empower global brands to connect better with their customers, employees, and partners through transformative communications experiences. For example, Vonage API solutions empower organizations to build their custom omnichannel communications structure. This allows them to reach and engage customers on their preferred schedule and channel — including voice, video, and messaging. Think of a rideshare service instantly connecting with customers, hospital staff conducting remote monitoring, customers verifying their identity before completing a purchase, AI virtual agents servicing customers around the clock, and much more.

Our Applications business unit focuses on delivering a suite of advanced communication tools designed to enhance customer engagement. From cloud contact centers to feature-rich unified communications solutions, our Applications team is dedicated to providing businesses with the tools they need to streamline operations and improve customer experiences.

Why this role matters:

The Content team is looking for a Senior Thought Leadership Writer to own the long-form voice that shapes how the world's most influential business and technology leaders think about the potential of mobile networks and their role in transforming how enterprises connect, operate, and compete. This person is part journalist, part researcher, part strategist — someone who can independently identify the ideas worth writing about, do the work to make those ideas defensible and original, and translate them into authoritative content that earns the attention of both C-Suite audiences at global enterprises as well as the senior technical decision-makers at telecommunications companies and service operators who are responsible for building, managing, and modernizing the developer platforms and API ecosystems that power their networks.

This is not a role for someone who executes on briefs. It's for someone who writes the brief — and then delivers content that changes the conversation.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Own the development of high-impact, long-form thought leadership content across formats including white papers, research reports, executive bylines, contributed articles, deep-dive guides, and point-of-view essays
  • Independently conduct research to surface cutting-edge topics, emerging trends, and market shifts — synthesizing industry data, analyst reports, and primary sources into compelling, original narratives
  • Keep a pulse on competitor and market trends to identify content whitespace and ensure Vonage's thought leadership is genuinely differentiated
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of how mobile network evolution — including 5G, network APIs, AI, and cloud-native infrastructure — is reshaping enterprise tech stacks, digital services, and business operations — and translate that understanding into content that resonates with senior decision-makers across both enterprise and service operator/CSP audiences
  • Write for distinct audiences — with a particular focus on C-Suite enterprise readers (Chief Executive Officers, Chief Information Officers, Chief Digital Officers) and senior operator/CSP stakeholders including those responsible for network strategy, product development, and enterprise services
  • Partner closely across Marketing and subject matter experts to ensure content reflects Vonage's most current positioning and strategic narrative
  • Bring a journalist's instinct to every assignment — pursuing original angles, conducting interviews and background research, and building arguments grounded in evidence
  • Contribute to Vonage's overall content strategy by identifying new thought leadership opportunities and advocating for the ideas, formats, and publishing channels that will drive the greatest impact

What you’ll bring:

Required:

  • 7-10+ years of professional writing experience, with a demonstrated track record of producing long-form thought leadership, editorial content, or investigative journalism at a high level
  • Deep, fluent knowledge of mobile networks and cloud communications — including 5G, network-as-a-service, cloud-native architecture, CPaaS, network APIs (e.g., CAMARA/Open Gateway), and the strategic and commercial implications of network evolution for both enterprises and Communications Service Providers
  • Proven understanding of the operator/CSP landscape — including how CSPs are transforming their business models, monetizing network assets, and partnering with enterprise technology providers; this is a required expertise, not a nice to have
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research, synthesize complex information, and develop original, defensible points of view without relying on prescribed briefs or talking points
  • Strong analytical instincts and experience performing competitor content analysis and monitoring market trends to inform editorial strategy
  • Experience writing for C-Suite audiences — an innate understanding of what earns executive attention and credibility
  • Experience working directly with or interviewing senior executives and subject matter experts
  • Demonstrated ability to write for both enterprise decision-makers and operator/CSP audiences — understanding that these audiences have distinct priorities, vocabularies, and buying contexts, and tailoring content accordingly without sacrificing depth or authority
  • Exceptional editorial judgment: you know the difference between a story and a press release, between a genuine insight and a repackaged vendor claim
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, matrixed B2B technology environment with multiple stakeholders and evolving priorities
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating long-form writing on complex, high-stakes topics — preferably in enterprise technology, telecommunications, cloud infrastructure, or network strategy

Experience we consider a plus:

  • Direct experience writing for or within a CSP, network operator, or telecom technology vendor; familiarity with the CPaaS, cloud communications, or enterprise SaaS market
  • Bachelor's degree or higher; degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field preferred — equivalent experience in investigative or enterprise reporting considered.
  • Additional preferred education backgrounds: Political Science or Public Policy (for analytical rigor and systems thinking), Computer Science or Information Technology (for deep technical fluency), Business Administration / MBA (for enterprise strategy credibility), or Electrical Engineering / Telecommunications (for network infrastructure depth)

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
