Growth Lead

Sydney, Australia

About Us

Vow is a food company - a very different one. We’re creating real meat products from animal cells instead of the animal itself.

We’re bringing together cutting edge innovations in science, engineering, culinary and design to make sustainable food that’s both irresistible and available to billions of people worldwide.

The Role

Earlier this month, Vow launched our first brand Forged in Singapore, and unveiled our flagship product, Forged Parfait: a new frontier in food innovation combining a rich, umami flavour with a weightless, melt-in-your-mouth quality. It’s unlike anything anyone has ever tasted before. Now that we’ve launched, our team is eager to grow our brand into more products, into more channels, and more markets.

As our first Growth Lead at Vow, you’ll be responsible for unlocking commercial potential and driving growth across our range of products and brands. You’ll think strategically through our product formats and pricing, identify what channels we should enter into, build our approach to grow into new markets, identify and execute on new partnerships, and set our regional teams and distributors up for success to effectively sell our products into new venues.

The experience/skills you will bring:

  • You’re incredibly consumer-centric and this drives everything you do. You’re curious & always translate customer needs into actionable product strategies & decisions.
  • You have strong commercial acumen, with proven ability to balance top and bottom line and as well as a track record of scaling up products and delivering commercial success in-market.
  • You’re highly analytical, using in-market feedback and commercial performance to drive decision making.
  • You’re a hustler with a bias for action and have experience landing big revenue opportunities with a high degree of speed. You take immense ownership and accountability over your responsibilities.
  • You have a track record of growing a business, product, or brand exponentially in a short amount of time.

You will:

  • Build a pipeline of demand and roadmap of new partners across channels and regions, navigating product demand to match our available supply on an ongoing basis.
  • Build our channel mix and product mix strategy in order to maximise our topline revenue and grow our demand.
  • Build our product pricing strategy in order to maximise top line revenue and achieve positive unit economics on the bottom line.
  • Collaborate closely with Brand Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Product Development, and our Regional Business Development teams to implement opportunities for growth.
  • Deeply understand the drivers of growth and customer pain points, and leverage in-market performance and feedback to inform future opportunities.
  • Get every new product we develop ‘commercially ready’, including execution of product-level messaging & sell-in materials, packaging design, and more that effectively bring to life the ethos of the brand.
  • Recommend and manage the execution of new product formats that optimise our offerings to appeal to customer needs and behaviours - from new sizes to new formats.
  • Contribute to our new product launches - representing the needs, wants, and motivations of those who are purchasing, using, and consuming our product - ultimately improving the chances of a successful adoption of our products to our end-customers.

What success looks like:

  • In the first few months, you’ll have taken over our demand forecast and built a roadmap for the next 6 months to grow our commercial footprint and expand Forged across regions. You’ll have a clear perspective on how different product benefits and offerings should be positioned to different potential customers and partnerships.
  • By the six-month mark, gotten our third product commercially-ready (with all sales & marketing materials complete) to be sold effectively to customers, and will have unlocked multiple new strategic revenue-generating opportunities and product volume through new partnerships, venues, channels, or product formats.
  • After a year, you’ll have demonstrated exponential and sustainable volume growth for our products and brands and have used in-market sales results to do (lots) more of what’s working.

Who we are and why join:

  • We are building a diverse, mission-led dream team of “Vowzers.” Our mission is to make food products for everyone. To do that well we need a workforce that’s representative of the people we serve. We celebrate multiple approaches and points of view - so we’re building a culture to match. Be yourself and come as you are.
  • Work on cutting-edge technology. We’re bringing together cutting-edge innovations in science, engineering, and food, to recreate the world’s most tantalising and unique culinary experiences. All without compromising on ethics or our planet along the way. Since our inception in 2019, we have held the title of being the first startup to cultivate meat from the cells of an undomesticated animal, and have served up our exotic meats ranging from kangaroo dumplings to alpaca sliders in tastings with world-renowned chefs.
  • Work with and learn from the best. Our team includes some of the world’s top scientists, innovators, operators, and creatives with decades of industry experience. Despite our experiences though, we all strive to build, break, learn, and repeat. We see the impossible as temporary and strive to learn and support our company and fellow Vowzers' growth as much as possible.
  • We’re fully funded and ready to go. We are a growing Aussie biotech start-up backed by Blackbird Ventures, Square Peg Capital, Grok Ventures, Tenacious Ventures, P7 Ventures, Toyota Ventures, and PeakBridge VC.

Vow perks and benefits:

  • Everyone is an owner. In addition to competitive base salaries, each and every ‘Vowzer’ owns equity in the company so we can all benefit from our hard work and future success.
  • Generous paid parental leave. We offer 8 weeks of paid caregiver leave and an additional 8 weeks paid leave for the birth giver.
  • Generous relocation budget & support. Support for interstate or overseas team members and their families (including pets!)
  • Flexible working hours and location. We value work-life balance. While we’re mostly back in the office, you’re free to choose the best way for you to work.
  • Unlimited personal leave. At Vow we recognise that sometimes you need time off to recuperate, look after your mental health, or simply deal with an emergency. We put unlimited personal leave in place to empower you to truly bring your best self to work every single day and you are always paid for days taken off as personal leave.
  • Heaps of tasty samples from our culinary centre. Our fantastic "food inventors" on the Vow team are always cooking up new product prototypes, and all Vowzers are given the opportunity to taste, give feedback, and learn from their culinary prowess.
  • An awesome converted warehouse “campus” in Alexandria. Complete with a glass-walled lab, manufacturing line, free snacks, a culinary centre, and professional-grade coffee machine in our cafe, as well as a DIY workshop for all hands-on projects.
  • Human and dog friendly office! An inclusive community and culture, in a welcoming office, complete with friendly “Vowzer” dogs!
  • A variety of social clubs. We encourage all our Vowzers to build the culture with us and share what you love by creating social clubs across the business. From book clubs to hiking groups, we’re always looking for ways to learn and engage with our team.
