Senior Experiential Strategist

New York, NY

We’re seeking a creative, collaborative thinker to shape the experiential strategy for editorial events and custom brand activations across the New York Magazine portfolio. This is a creative-led role for someone who has their finger on the pulse of live experiences, culture, and emerging trends, and can translate those insights into smart, distinctive ideas. The role also requires strong practical expertise — from scoping event budgets and understanding production considerations to managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with organization and ease.

Sitting within the Brand Marketing Strategy and Experiential teams, this is an ideal role for someone who’s passionate about events and creative storytelling, and excited to bring their experience to a fast-paced media company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive the creative positioning and go-to-market strategy for experiential offerings across New York Magazine, The Cut, Vulture, and The Strategist
  • Develop creative concepts for marquee multi-sponsor tentpole events, editorial activations, and custom branded experiences
  • Lead experiential thinking for RFPs and proactive pitches, using research, cultural trends, and visual storytelling to develop compelling concepts and proposals
  • Write pitch concepts with clarity, originality, and strategic intent, delivering standout creative copy that brings ideas to life and ladders back to client objectives
  • Lead deck development for proactive pitches to advertisers tied to priority experiential IP
  • Develop detailed event budgets and timelines, and assess production considerations to ensure concepts are both creatively compelling and feasible
  • Present experiential offerings and ideas to the Advertising organization and in client meetings, bringing concepts to life with clarity and confidence
  • Build strong relationships with the Sales and Editorial teams, ensuring what's pitched matches what's scoped, and flagging incremental work in pre-sale before it reaches post-sale production
  • Assist in  the pre-sale to post-sale handoff, translating the sold event vision and approved budget into a clear, actionable production scope while ensuring every element carries seamlessly from the original concept through execution
  • Attend key events and production walk-throughs as needed to gain firsthand insight into what works in practice — using those learnings to strengthen future concepts and inform strategic direction
  • Conduct competitive and cultural research to identify emerging opportunities, building a central point of view and a working archive of event moodboards, references, and industry innovation
  • Collaborate across Marketing, Editorial, Sales, and Experiential to shape strategy, provide informed recommendations, and develop ideas that are aligned with business objectives and brought effectively to life
  • Contribute to day-to-day team operations, organization, meeting preparation, and other needs as they arise

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3-5  years of experience in experiential marketing, event production, or creative strategy (agency, media, or brand side)
  • Outstanding writing and visual communication skills, with expertise in building pitch decks in Google Slides
  • Solid understanding of event pricing, preliminary budgeting, and vendor quote management
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to bring creative experiential ideas to life in meetings
  • Deep curiosity about live experiences, pop culture, and emerging trends
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, stay organized, and communicate effectively
  • Avid fan and reader of New York Magazine brands
