Job Summary:
The Business Development (BD) Director for the Voyager Defense Systems Propulsion business is responsible for developing new business acquisition vision, strategies, and tactical plans, and then executing to drive bookings, increase revenue, and position the business for robust growth in alignment with financial objectives. This person will identify and evaluate expansion of current and new markets, partners, channels, and customers. The BD Director brings strategic and hands-on BD execution to an entrepreneurial environment; understanding threats, problems, priorities, limitations, and requirements as well as how the customer perceives capability and capacity gaps. This role reports to the Senior Director of Business Development for Strategic Systems and supports the Strategic Systems VP/GM.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies and develops new business opportunities in alignment with the Annual Operating Plan and Long-Range Strategic Plan objectives to meet or exceed AOP Bookings.
- Builds and manages relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, partners, vendors, and internal teams.
- Develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes.
- Understands customer missions, requirements, and gaps, and partners with technical team to apply or develop appropriate solutions.
- Leads sales, marketing, customer service, and client relationship efforts related to assigned scope.
- Collaborates with marketing, sales, and product development as well as with other Voyager stakeholders to support business development plans and guide sustainable, long-term growth.
- Tracks emerging markets and trends; proposes and develops solutions including new offerings or strategic partnerships to address evolving needs.
- Fosters an entrepreneurial growth culture throughout the company and across all teams and work functions.
- Provides input to internal research, product development and distribution and promotion strategies.
- Fulfills requests for information (RFI), requests for proposals (RFP), and requests from potential partners and customers; leads captures and proposals and smoothly transitions new work to Program Management team.
- Supports and improves Capture, Bid, and Proposal Process. Manages within B&P budget. Supports ISR Business Area Pipeline generation and reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or computer science from an accredited university; master’s degree in business administration or engineering preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience business development to the U.S. Government and Prime Contractors.
- 15+ years of involving solid rocket motors, controllable propulsion, additive metals manufacturing, composite filament winding manufacturing technical expertise (may be concurrent with marketing experience).
- Experience briefing executive management and customers for proposal review and approval.
- Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency programs and MAP/PMAP.
- Experience working with corporate-level business development activities, including high-level customer presentations, support of Congressional actions, and executive level task forces.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate with prospective customers and clients, partners, vendors, and the press.
- U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or other status as a U.S. Person as defined by 8 USC 1324b(a)(3) per customer requirements.
Other:
- Current DoD Secret Clearance required, Top Secret Clearance preferred.
- Willing to travel up to 50% of the time to meet business objectives.
- Able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance at the appropriate level.
