The Process Engineer / Project Engineer is responsible for supporting plant operations, capital projects, and process control improvements in a chemical manufacturing environment. This role reports to the Senior Technical Project Engineer and is based on site in Minden, LA.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Analyze process data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Learn and support process control systems and strategies.
- Implement process improvements with cross-functional team buy-in.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to support safe plant operations.
- Manage small to mid-sized CAPEX projects from planning through execution.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors including scope development and pricing.
- Track project progress and provide status updates.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
- 0–7 years of experience in a plant or chemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn process control systems.
- Experience working with contractors or vendors.
- Exposure to CAPEX projects.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with laboratory analytical equipment for chemical analysis of in-process and final product.
- Exposure to process control systems (DCS/PLC).
Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
- Travel up to 10%, including the possibility of overnights at Penrose CO, or vendor sites.
- Ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Must receive State Police Explosives and ATF clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses
- Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses, including minimum age requirements (21 and over), a drug-free workplace in compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 (41 U.S.C. §§ 8101–8106), Executive Order 12564 (Drug-Free Federal Workplace), applicable Department of Defense directives including DoD Instruction 1010.09 and DFARS 252.226-7003 and successful completion of any legally required background investigations.
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
The good faith base salary range for this role is $80,000–$125,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
