The Systems Engineer IV-Systems for Aerospace Engineering Department serves as a senior-level systems engineering specialist is responsible for leading requirements definition, verification planning, and risk management activities on DoD or MDA-aligned missile defense programs.
The position reports to the SE-Systems Functional Manager and is part of the SE-Systems Department based in Folsom, CA. This role can also be based in Reno, NV, Hybrid or Remote.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Lead development, decomposition, and maintenance of system, subsystem, and interface requirements; ensure full traceability and compliance throughout the program lifecycle
- Develop, own, and execute system-level verification and validation plans, procedures, and compliance matrices
- Plan and lead execution of system-level verification events including reviews, inspections, and tests
- Conduct and maintain technical risk assessments, mitigation plans, and risk tracking documentation with limited oversight
- Interface regularly with cross-functional engineering teams (propulsion, software, hardware, GNC, test, quality, and safety) to drive requirements closure and verification status
- Serve as primary technical point of contact for customer and supplier stakeholders on requirements changes, verification progress, and risk posture
- Drive technical planning, schedule alignment, and tracking of engineering deliverables; contribute to CDRL development and program reporting
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements within the systems engineering team

- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited college/university with 7 years of experience in systems engineering OR systems engineering or related discipline with 5 years of experience OR 11 years of experience in systems engineering in lieu of a degree
- Demonstrated experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) processes, CDRL development, and formal technical reviews
- Proficient in DOORS (or equivalent) for requirements management
- Solid knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle standards (INCOSE SE Handbook, MIL-STD-499, EIA-632)
- Strong technical writing skills for briefings, formal documentation, CDRLs, and compliance matrices
- Excellent verbal communication skills for interfacing with multidisciplinary teams, customers, and executive stakeholders
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Project
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience Reliability and/or System Safety Analyses
- Skilled in developing and interpreting SysML diagrams (block definition, activity, sequence, state) in Cameo Systems Modeler or equivalent MBSE tool
Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
- Travel up to 10-15%, including the possibility of overnights to support customer reviews and test events
- U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract eligibility
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance
- Must comply with ITAR regulations
The good faith base salary range for this role is $148,100–$233,900 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
