VSC Fire & Security in Orlando, Florida is seeking candidates for the position of Integrated Systems Designer ll.
Position Summary:
Responsible for designing, coordinating, and submitting Integrated Systems drawings, and material/equipment schedules. Responsible for creating drawings using information from the project's scope, architectural drawings, job specifications, site surveys, and relevant codes (NFPA, IBC, UFC, local building codes). Handle all aspects of design layout, field checking, material equipment submittals, installation requirements, and close out procedures. Integrated Systems may include any of the following: Fire Alarm; Intrusion Detection; Access Control; CCTV; IP Cameras; Networking Infrastructure; Telecom; BDA (Bi-Directional Antenna systems); DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems); Audio/Video; Nurse Call; Area of Refuge; Intercom; Crestron; Extron; Honeywell; Notifier; Gamewell FCI; Silent Knight; Fire Lite; Siemens; AutoCall/JCI; or RATH.

What you need:
- Three to five years of experience with AutoCAD or background in mathematics.
- Review architectural drawings, mechanical, site, structural and completes site surveys, and research essential information as required for structural and mechanical elements.
- Integrate other mechanical systems to ensure successful coordination with the integrated systems and must be able to recognize potential conflicts with other trades.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and insurance requirements as well as all fire and building code requirements.
- Provide updates to purchasing as installation schedule or change orders require modifications to meet installation schedule and deadlines and other requirements.
- Exercises a high level of autonomy in organizing, planning, and prioritizing multiple projects to meet individual deadlines with exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
- Communicate with Design Manager and Field Superintendent to review design, installation and testing of devices and systems throughout the project.
- Monitor and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to pass various background checks.
- Reliable transportation, valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record for use of company vehicle.
- Desirable (but not required):
- NICET Level ll or lll, or equivalent experience.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in drafting (AutoCAD).
What you will do:
- Responsible for design layout, field checking, material equipment submittals, installation requirements, and close out procedures.
- Assists and trains less experienced designers, serving as a leader and mentor in the Design Department.
- Interprets instructions and directives from supervisor accurately.
- Communicates effectively with co-workers, supervisors, contractors, Architects, Engineers, and AHJs.
- Organizes, plans, and prioritizes multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with high concentration and attention to detail.
- Reviews project documents and information to determine scope.
- Requests information from sales manager, project manager, contractor, or owner as needed.
- Reviews architectural drawings, mechanical plans, site plans, and conducts site surveys.
- Coordinates integrated systems with other mechanical systems.
- Ensures compliance with fire and building codes, NFPA standards, and insurance requirements.
- Checks layout against estimate or design information sheet.
- Prepares equipment and material submittals.
- Submits designs for review, approval, and permitting.
- Responds to requests for additional information and revisions.
- Updates design based on job site changes and code requirements.
- Manages change orders to customer's satisfaction.
- Submits material lists and requisitions devices.
- Provides updates to purchasing based on installation schedule or change orders.
- Collaborates with Design Manager and Field Superintendent throughout the project.
- Conducts site visits to survey layout, review work progress, and assess design changes.
- Prepares as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and other closeout documents upon project completion.
