Controller
Vulcan Elements is pioneering the onshoring of rare-earth permanent magnet manufacturing with a fully domestic/allied supply chain, focused on strengthening America’s industrial base and responsibly decarbonizing. We serve critical industries such as defense, aerospace, and automotive, playing a vital role in securing a safe, sustainable future. We are seeking a dedicated Controller to join our dynamic and growing team as we scale our operations.
Position Overview:
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Vulcan Elements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role will work closely with senior leadership to develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company's long-term goals. You will play a key role in ensuring the company’s financial health as we expand our domestic manufacturing capabilities and support critical industries with innovative magnet technology. On-site expectations are 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage cash flow, optimize working capital, and monitor financial performance metrics.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making and company growth initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within a manufacturing or technology environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Experience with government contracting is a plus.
- Experience in implementing and managing ERP systems is a plus.
