Vultr is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Operations Manager to oversee daily operations and contribute to the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of our data center environments. The ideal candidate will ensure clear reporting and transparency for uptime, optimize resources, and support both internal and external customers by maintaining a secure and scalable infrastructure.

What to expect:

Operational Ownership:

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of one or more data center sites.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and uptime requirements.

  • Manage capacity planning, power and cooling utilization, and rack space availability.

Incident & Change Management:

  • Lead response efforts for incidents impacting data center services.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

  • Coordinate and execute maintenance and changes to infrastructure.

Vendor & Contractor Coordination:

  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors for maintenance, equipment, and services.

  • Supervise on-site contractors for installations, repairs, and upgrades.

Infrastructure Monitoring:

  • Utilize monitoring tools to track environmental, power, and hardware performance.

  • Identify and escalate potential risks to ensure system reliability and performance.

Asset & Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of hardware assets, cabling, and documentation.

  • Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory and spare parts in stock.

  • Oversee hardware lifecycle from deployment through decommissioning.

Process Improvement:

  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Recommend and implement efficiency improvements for operations and workflows.

Our new team member will need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3–6 years of experience in data center operations or infrastructure management.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Data center standards (e.g., TIA-942, Uptime Institute tier levels).

    • Power and cooling systems (UPS, CRAC units).

    • Network and server hardware (rack/stack, cabling).

  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., DCIM platforms, environmental monitoring).

  • Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in colocation and cloud/hybrid environments.

  • Familiarity with sustainability and energy efficiency best practices.

  • Project management experience (PMP, Agile methodologies).

  • Familiar with JIRA and Confluence

Work Conditions:

  • Rotational on-call duty may be required.

  • May need to work outside of normal business hours for incident management or critical maintenance.
