Practice Growth Executive

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

We are seeking a senior consulting leader to serve as a Practice Growth Executive (PGE) — a high-impact role responsible for driving strategic growth across a defined consulting practice. This leader will own and execute targeted business development strategies to expand existing client relationships, unlock white space opportunities, and support new client acquisition.

The PGE operates at the intersection of strategy, client development, and delivery — working closely with Practice Leadership, Account Executives, Business Development teams, and consulting delivery teams to translate growth strategy into measurable commercial outcomes.

This role is ideal for a seasoned consulting professional (10+ years of management consulting experience) with a strong track record of revenue generation, executive relationship building, and leading complex pursuits within large enterprise environments.

The PGE is both a growth leader and an active consulting practitioner, maintaining partial billable responsibilities while shaping and accelerating practice expansion.

Key Responsibilities

1. Practice Growth Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute a practice-specific growth strategy aligned to market demand, competitive positioning, and firm priorities.

  • Translate strategic growth objectives into actionable pursuit plans in partnership with Practice Managing Directors, Client Executives, and Business Development leadership.

  • Own achievement of defined commercial targets (e.g., pipeline, bookings, revenue growth), monitoring progress and adjusting tactics to ensure delivery.

  • Drive white space expansion within existing accounts through close collaboration with account leadership and delivery teams.

  • Identify and prioritize new client opportunities aligned to practice capabilities.

  • Provide ongoing market and competitive insights to inform offering evolution and positioning.

2. RFP & Opportunity Leadership

  • Lead or support practice-aligned RFP responses and complex opportunity pursuits.

  • Serve as a senior pursuit leader across sourced and account-driven opportunities.

  • Orchestrate cross-functional teams (practice leaders, SMEs, BD, and account teams) to deliver compelling proposals and presentations.

  • Ensure disciplined pursuit governance, win strategy development, and post-submission debriefs.

3. Reporting, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain accurate and forward-looking pipeline reporting and forecasting.

  • Partner with practice and commercial leadership to prioritize opportunities and allocate resources effectively.

  • Capture and institutionalize lessons learned from wins and losses to continuously strengthen BD assets and processes.

  • Contribute to regular financial and pipeline reviews.

  • Support enablement initiatives to build broader business development capability within the practice.

  • Collaborate with commercial leadership to periodically assess and evolve the PGE model and its impact.

4. Talent Development & Practice Leadership

  • Mentor and coach business development and consulting talent within the practice.

  • Contribute to succession planning discussions in partnership with practice leadership.

  • Provide feedback and development support to Offering Leads, Enablement Leads, and other key practice roles.

  • Help cultivate a culture of growth, accountability, and commercial excellence.

5. Client-Facing Consulting Leadership

  • Serve in partial project leadership and/or SME roles across multiple engagements to strengthen client relationships and support growth objectives.

  • Maintain diversified client exposure (no more than 40% allocation to any single engagement, unless otherwise approved).

  • Leverage delivery participation to identify expansion opportunities and deepen executive relationships.

  • Partner with leadership and staffing teams to balance growth responsibilities with client commitments.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of management consulting experience, preferably within a top-tier or specialized consulting firm.

  • Demonstrated success driving revenue growth, including:

    • Expanding existing accounts

    • Leading complex pursuits and RFP responses

    • Building and managing senior executive relationships

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience owning or materially influencing pipeline and bookings targets.

  • Proven ability to operate at the C-suite level and navigate complex stakeholder environments.

  • Experience leading cross-functional pursuit teams in matrixed organizations.

  • Deep understanding of consulting delivery models and economics.

  • Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills.

  • Track record of mentoring and developing senior consulting talent.

Leadership Profile

The ideal candidate is:

  • A strategic growth leader with a builder mindset

  • Commercially accountable and outcomes-oriented

  • Highly collaborative and able to influence without formal authority

  • Comfortable balancing sales leadership with delivery excellence

  • Analytical, disciplined, and process-oriented in managing pipeline and pursuits

  • Respected by peers as both a business developer and trusted advisor
