Accounts Receivable Specialist - Chattanooga, TN
SUMMARY:
Responsible for accounts receivable functions; applies principles of accounting to perform accounting tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts receivable transactions. This includes processing, distribution, and maintenance of records by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Accounting.
• Post, process, and reconcile deposit entries of payments by cash, check, credit card, and ACHs in the ERP system.
• Regularly monitor and analyze accounts receivable reports and aging reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Send customer past due statements on the 10th of each month.
• Distribute AR aging reports on the 10th and 25th of each month to FSD, general managers, and department heads.
• Develop and implement strategies for efficient and effective collection of outstanding debts, while maintaining a positive customer relationship.
• Acts as liaison between corporate and branch locations regarding any past due accounts over 60 days.
• Corresponds with customers, responds to inquiries, and resolves discrepancies.
• Assist with customer portals and invoice submissions.
• Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed.
• Continuously assess and enhance accounts receivable processes, implementing automation and best practices to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
• Assist with preparing and filing of Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly Tax Reports for U.S. federal, state, and local income taxes.
• Assists with special projects and audits as needed.
• Performs other office duties as needed to ensure smooth financial processes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Accounts Receivable Specialist is subject to supervision by the Chief Executive Officer and the Director of Accounting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from an accredited college or technical school; or minimum one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating policies, and procedure manuals using the English language. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software, Contact Management Systems, Internet programs, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Driver's License
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
