Job Title: SY 26-27 English Lead Classroom Teacher

Compensation: $61,714 - $96,779 annually
Position Overview: Teachers at Washington Yu Ying are part of a collaborative and supportive faculty with a common goal of continuously improving a great school. English Lead teachers contribute to whole student achievement through their support of students across their grade levels through whole classroom instruction.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Implement grade appropriate IB PYP curriculum (English literacy, Social Studies, Math, and Science)
- Lead the implementation of the IB units of inquiry ensuring alignment with programme standards and school priorities.
- Design, plan, and deliver transdisciplinary units that integrate the IB framework.
- Ensure a focus on conceptual understanding to support students in developing, extending, and transferring their ideas across contexts.
- Utilize current IB resources and guidance, and regularly review and refine the implementation of the programme based on IB expectations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design, plan, assess, and moderate learning experiences within the IB programme.
- Use local and global contexts to establish relevance and authenticity in Chinese learning experiences.
- Promote effective relationships and purposeful collaboration among teachers to create a positive and dynamic learning community.
- Establish a positive classroom culture
- Emphasize and support oral language development across all content areas
- Communicate and work effectively with families
- Work positively and collaboratively as a member of a grade level team
- Maintain active supervision of students at all times, including during instruction, transitions, arrival/dismissal, recess, lunch, and any school-sponsored activities; students must never be left unattended.
- Ensure student safety by proactively monitoring environments and behaviors, enforcing school safety expectations, and intervening immediately when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed.
- Respond promptly to student injuries or medical concerns by following all school protocols, seeking appropriate assistance, and ensuring the student’s immediate well-being.
- Accurately document and report all injuries and safety incidents in accordance with school procedures and timelines, including notifying designated staff and families as required.
- Implement all special education plans with fidelity, including IEPs, 504 Plans, and documented accommodations and modifications.
- Participate consistently and professionally in required special education meetings, including IEP meetings, progress reviews, and collaborative planning sessions.
- Provide scaffolded and differentiated instruction to ensure all students
- Apply the Whole Child Model by addressing students’ academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being, and by collaborating with families and support staff to promote safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments.
- Support and promote the IB mission and learner profile by modeling IB values, contributing to a positive school culture, and reinforcing internationally minded practices in daily interactions.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
- Bachelor's degree in education or Master’s degree in education preferred.
- Early childhood and/or elementary experience required.
