Intern

The Intern will experience many facets of our firm’s financial planning and wealth management departments and work on special projects as needed. From our perspective, a successful internship will be one which provides the intern with a good base knowledge of our business, gives the intern opportunities to learn, grow, and ask questions, and aids carious Waverly team members over the course of the internship. Our goal is for this experience to supplement the intern’s education and for the intern to leave our firm with a good understanding of a career in wealth management.
As an Intern, you will gain a baseline understanding of our wealth management practice including:
- The process from prospect to client, including client onboarding steps.
- How we serve clients in financial planning utilizing the client dashboard.
- The preparation, structure, and follow-up related to client meetings.
- Various investment types that we utilize for our clients.
- Role of our Investment Committee and our various investment allocations.
- How we help clients assess their retirement needs.
- Estate planning and its role in the overall financial planning process.
- Insurance basics (evaluation of need and overall recommendations).
- Education planning, including funding analysis and savings strategies
- Debt management.
- Social Security/Medicare planning.
- Introduction to industry technology platforms.
Miscellaneous tasks could include:
- Assisting planners and advisors with meeting preparation.
- Database cleanup, report generation, etc.
- Meeting documentation.
- Working on administrative tasks.
- Observing planners and advisors in client meetings.
- Updating client financial planning dashboards.
- Investment research.
Travel:
- No travel is required.
Experience:
- Qualified candidates will be pursuing their bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Candidates will have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Highly motivated with a desire to learn.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Benefits:
- The intern position is a part-time position, and therefore not eligible for company-sponsored benefits or Paid Time Off (PTO).
