Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is looking for an experienced Previsualization/Layout Artist. This position creates sequences of shots that convey the story through the application of traditional filmmaking principles in a 3D environment. Working closely with the Head of Previs and the Director to guide the creative and technical storytelling. 
 

 
Your Role Responsibilities:   

  • Establish character blocking, camera positioning, lensing, and camera movement. 
  • Pre-visualize and layout sequences of shots that convey the story based on storyboards, story reel and/or script pages. 
  • Ensure that the vision of the Director, Art Director and Head of Cinematography is incorporated  
  • Work with existing storyboards, recreate, and/or enhance story through cinematic layout of shots. 
  • May create rough models, environments and rigs to facilitate pre-visualization work. 
  • Collaborate with the Editorial department to incorporate materials and animatic work into the production reel. 
  • Pre-visualize the look of the film in collaboration with the Art Department. 
  • Model, surface, and rig Previs assets such as characters, environments, and effects. 
  • Work in previsualization and layout on lighting, effects, rough character performances, camera motion, and editing. 

  

Your Qualifications and Experience:   

  • 5+ years’ experience in feature animation is preferred 
  • VFX and/or animated television in a layout or previsualization roll a plus 
  • Strong understanding of cinematography  
  • Ability to work under pressure as well as implement changes based on input from multiple sources. 
  • Proficient in programs such as Autodesk Maya, Adobe Creative Suite, Nuke and Unreal Engine 
  • Expertise with editing software 
  • Moderate to advanced modeling, surfacing and rigging skills 
  • Moderate to advanced skills in effects animation 
  • Passion for animation and filmmaking.   
  • Positive, direct, collaborative communication to help improve our shared vision and studio culture.  
  • Flexible, adaptable approach with a constant appetite for new knowledge and experiences. 
  • Ability to work in the Burbank studio 3 days a week

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual compensation will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Pay Range: $53.00 (CBA scale) - $80.00 per hour. This role qualifies for benefits according to the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
