Backend Engineer

Description

Weave is looking for a Backend Engineer to help eliminate one of the biggest bottlenecks of drug development: regulatory development. Every phase of a drug’s lifecycle requires extensive documentation to be submitted to the FDA.

Traditional processes are opaque, manual, and spread across many systems. We’re bringing the whole process together, supported by LLMs, so teams can collaborate and accelerate their regulatory processes. From six months to six clicks.

The Role

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer that can navigate between data, AI, and backend systems. Stability, performance, and reliability of the AI system are the core responsibilities. You will be asked to develop novel solutions to customer problems, characterize the results, and deliver the solutions into production. You’ll be successful in this role if you can go from idea, to experiment, to testing, to production without getting lost or stuck at one of the steps. We care more about solving problems than using the latest buzz. We prefer simple, well-tested, stable solutions that are dependable, yet impressive.

Responsibilities

• Understanding customer problems and translating that into simple solutions
• Working with Product and Design to quickly find solutions
• Writing performant, simple code. We run Django + Python + Postgres + Redis.
• Managing ongoing conceptual and technical complexity while delivering value on Product projects

Ideal Profile

• Has worked at an early-stage, product-based startup before (<50 people)
• Used Django in a production environment
• Used of LLMs in production
• Directly interacting with LLMs without abstraction libraries
• Humble, hungry, and smart
• Able to move quickly on tasks while producing high-quality results
• Pragmatic, analytical thinker. Efficient decision maker
