Senior Android OS Developer

Position Overview:
At weavix, the key to our growth is a high-performing Engineering team creating products and solutions that the world is asking for. We are seeking a qualified Android OS engineer to, develop and ensure our customers experience reliable and robust products, service and solutions. As the primary engineer for all things Android, you will be experienced and passionate about customizing, optimizing and developing Android OS. We are looking for a motivated, results-oriented, quality-focused engineer who understands Android at all levels and has developed on Android extensively throughout their career. This role will play a critical part in ensuring that weavix can grow as fast as possible while keeping the product as useable and refined as possible.

What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a driven and strategic individual focused on building and maintaining our Android platform on our devices. Day-to-day responsibilities will include developing our next-generation device, with the latest Android OS as well as our current-generation devices running Android 12. You will be proficient in using tools to develop libraries and drivers, customize the OS for performance and efficiency, dive into the depths of the OS to resolve low-level issues, and create APIs for the features and apps to utilize.

Objectives of This Role:

  • Develop our next-generation digital wireless devices, with the latest Android OS
  • Improve and maintain our existing devices running Android 12
  • Implement libraries and drivers to bring reliable services to the application layer
  • Improve the performance and efficiency of our devices and products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the Android OS implementation and platform.
  • Port the latest Android OS onto brand new hardware
  • Root cause and resolve issues in Android OS
  • Implement security patches and core OS feature updates
  • Create scalable and reliable APIs to expose to the application layer
  • Improve the efficiency and performance of our device battery and power consumption.
  • You will be reporting directly to the Director of engineering.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, providing guidance, strategy, and a plan to execute.
  • Proven problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills.
  • A strong desire to maximize digital communications reliability.
  • A deep understanding of Android OS.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or at least five years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience as a developer working on Android OS on mobile devices.
  • A high level understanding of embedded systems and hardware.
