Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer is a hands-on, forward deployed full-stack builder who turns prioritized business use cases into working software for WelbeHealth's healthcare technology platforms, developing across front ends and back-end services. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and in collaboration with business stakeholders, Solution Architects, and the Technical Product Management team, the Senior Software Engineer identifies and defines business needs that require developed technology solutions to achieve business outcomes. Working within WelbeHealth architecture standards and design patterns, this role is accountable for the development, quality assurance, implementation, and maintenance of solution components, and applies AI-assisted engineering as everyday practice. This role leverages the agile life cycle for solutions deployment in all projects as well as objectively assessing quality and logistics production readiness.

• Sits at the intersection of healthcare technology, cloud engineering, and AI, with the opportunity to modernize legacy applications, build scalable solutions on Azure, and make AI-assisted engineering and automation part of how software is designed, developed, and delivered

On the day-to-day, you will:

• Work across the full stack, developing React front ends and C#/.NET back-end services, to develop, test, deploy, and maintain solution components that fulfill prioritized business use cases
• Re-write and re-engineer custom legacy applications using the Microsoft tech stack
• Apply AI-assisted engineering, using LLMs, AI developer tooling, and modern automation to raise development velocity and quality, and help integrate AI-powered features into the product
• Ensure automated unit, system, and regression testing coverage of features prior to launch, writing manual and automated test cases using NUnit
• Perform independent verification and validation of solution components constructed by peers through test case development and test plan execution to ensure production readiness, as well as perform coding and design reviews with peer developers
• Adhere to WelbeHealth Agile DevOps processes, tools, and environments for requirements capture, architecture and design, construction, quality assurance, code and documentation version control, production deployment, troubleshooting, and change management
• Apply strong engineering DevSecOps principles, ensuring the features provide the security and data integrity required to meet overall department goals toward PCI and HIPAA compliance
• Along with product owners and usability designers, participate in requirements discovery and usability sessions with end users, as well as work closely with technology and business partners throughout solution development and delivery, ensuring proper testing, implementation, and documentation
• Create documentation about both the current state of software as well as historical accounts of the process

Job requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or equivalent; relevant professional experience may be substituted
• One (1) or more Microsoft solutions certifications preferred in solutions architecture
• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in object-oriented software development and maintenance using languages such as C#, .NET Core, and Razor Pages
• Full-stack development capability, with React.js front ends paired with .NET back-end services
• Experience with Azure Cloud, including Azure API Apps, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and REST services
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and practices, such as LLM-based developer tooling, code generation, and workflow automation
• Experience with NoSQL databases, namely Azure Cosmos DB
• Experience with REST APIs and an understanding of how to implement solutions with multiple data sources
• Experience writing automated unit, system, and regression test cases using NUnit
• Strong engineering DevSecOps principles, with security built into code, CI/CD, and cloud from the start
• Understanding of Azure Data Factory is a plus
