Position Title: Senior UI/UX Designer
Reporting To: Senior Director, UX
Location: Chapel Hill, NC; Boston, MA (Newton Office); New York, NY
Compensation: Senior UI/UX Designer $115,000-135,000, plus bonus and benefits
Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior UX/UI Designer to lead design efforts for our complex product areas. The ideal candidate will have 4–7 years of professional experience in UX/UI, product design, or human-centered design. In this pivotal role, you will drive the user experience strategy and execution from discovery to delivery, balancing long-term product vision with immediate user needs. You will operate with high autonomy, making significant design decisions and aligning efforts across disciplines with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead UX/UI design across projects, from initial research to high-fidelity execution
- Define user journeys, information architecture, and interaction flows for complex systems
- Conduct or oversee user research, usability testing, and design validation
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other Designers to align on product strategy and roadmap
- Advocate for user needs while balancing business and technical constraints
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to the team's knowledge-sharing and culture
- Drive the adoption and evolution of design systems, patterns, and standards
- Communicate design rationale effectively to stakeholders and leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: 4–7 years of professional experience in UX/UI, product design, or human-centered design
- Expertise in designing both mobile apps and responsive web applications
- Proven ability to lead design efforts for complex product areas from discovery to delivery
- Experience designing to boost engagement metrics, ideally for health tech products
- Demonstrated ability to drive user experience strategy and execution, balancing business goals with user needs
- Experience owning and contributing to ADA complaint design systems
- Expertise in conducting or overseeing user research, usability testing, and design validation
- Expert-level proficiency with design tools, specifically Figma, and experience with prototyping tools and collaboration platforms
- A proactive, creative, and rigorous approach to solving ambiguous problems
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, Engineers, etc.)
- Ability to effectively communicate design rationale to stakeholders and leadership
