Principal Health Informatics Data Analyst
About Wellth:
Wellth is a fast-growing digital health startup headquartered in Los Angeles that recently raised a Series B from leading investors including SignalFire. Our mission is to provide daily care motivation to people living with chronic conditions so they can make healthier choices, every single day.
We don’t assume that just providing a tool or a beautiful app will actually get results. We use behavioral economics, habit science, and technology to motivate and sustain behavior change in some of the highest need and most underserved populations in the US (think Medicaid and Medicare), drastically changing their quality of life and health outcomes. We have demonstrated results with several large insurers and health systems (e.g. reducing hospitalizations by over 40%), and are scaling the company and team. Our goal is to be the category leader in improving health outcomes for hard to engage populations, a $50B+ annual opportunity in healthcare.
Our work quite literally saves lives every day. We’ve engaged 65,000+ members, prevented 15k+ hospital days and saved 500+ lives. We are a mission-driven company where you work with incredible talent and see tangible differences directly from your impact and influence.
About the Role:
As the Principal Health Informatics Data Analyst, you will work closely with our customer success and sales teams to develop and conduct custom analyses on healthcare data (e.g., claims, EMR, labs, quality outcomes, etc.) to help us convey Wellth program outcomes effectively and surface new opportunities for us to impact health plan membership. You will be our in-house subject matter expert (SME) on all things healthcare data so you will bring at least a decade of experience working with healthcare datasets and conducting analyses (health outcomes, ROI, utilization, etc.). We have a large and growing data team that will look to you for guidance as we consider how to structure the vast amounts of healthcare data we receive from customers which guide our product and program designs.
At your core, you will be passionate about translating healthcare data into stories or actionable insights. You will be in a position to up-level our existing team’s capabilities in healthcare data analysis and identify new ways for us to showcase the impactful work we do. You will own the development of new analyses to support Wellth’s commercial team goals. You will also be able to develop external-facing collateral showcasing Wellth’s outcomes and opportunities (e.g., blog posts, webinars, white papers). This role will require you to present analyses to customers, joining our commercial team in pitches and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs). You will have the opportunity to work closely with customer data teams, including health plan Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR) groups.
Success in this role is to elevate our organization’s thinking on what is possible with healthcare data, conducting analyses which lead to customer expansions and new business for Wellth, and supporting our data engineering teams efforts in data modeling as our in-house healthcare data expert. This role will be an individual contributor role on our commercial team but you will have an opportunity to be a SME serving several departments.
Specifically, you will:
Perform proactive data analysis to identify trends, create actionable insights, and propose strategies that drive success and outcomes for Wellth’s members and payer and provider customers.
Lead customer-facing data discussions, including presenting and explaining analyses, offering strategic insights on quality metrics, CMS measures, and ROI.
Develop and present complex reports, dashboards, visualizations and presentations to demonstrate Wellth’s value proposition to clients, helping to secure new business and support ongoing engagements.
Collaborate with customer data teams to ensure seamless data ingestion, validation, and transformation for accurate ROI and quality metric analyses, supporting the efforts of HIDAs.
Partner with commercial and customer success teams to provide feedback and identify new ways to leverage data insights to address client-specific challenges, enhancing the value of Wellth’s services.
Provide strategic recommendations internally for new use cases, enhancements to existing analytics capabilities, and ways to optimize data usage to better serve clients.
Stay current on evolving healthcare industry standards, analytics techniques, and best practices, continuously refining analytical methods to drive more meaningful insights.
Collaborate closely with the internal data and engineering teams to recommend improvements
You will work with:
Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing teams to support customer engagements, provide data-driven insights, and ensure that Wellth’s platform delivers measurable value.
Product teams to translate client feedback and insights into actionable product development ideas.
Data engineers and customer data teams to gather data requirements and deliver bespoke data solutions aligned with customer needs.
Senior leadership to influence and drive customer acquisition and retention strategies through data storytelling and insights.
We’re looking for someone who has:
10+ years of experience working with healthcare products and data, having directly worked with claims data, patient data, and other health-related data sets.
7+ years of professional experience as a healthcare data analyst or healthcare data engineer in a client-facing capacity.
Strong communication skills to translate complex data into compelling, easy-to-understand narratives for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to provide strategic insights and proactively identify new ways to leverage data to meet customer objectives and optimize quality measures.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, shell scripting, and dbt tools for analysis, ETL, and data transformation.
Familiarity with Redshift, BigQuery, and other data warehouse infrastructures.
Deep understanding of healthcare quality metrics (HEDIS, Stars), CMS requirements, ROI analyses, and financial modeling.
You might be the candidate we’re looking for if you can:
Engage with customers to discuss data insights, helping them understand the strategic implications for improving care and reducing costs.
Thrive in a client-facing role, driving proactive discussions and building trusted partnerships through your ability to provide actionable, data-driven recommendations.
Take ownership of customer data projects, ensuring timely and successful data delivery, analysis, and feedback loops that support commercial growth.
In addition to the above, our ideal candidate has:
Experience with Jupyter, Spark, Apache Airflow, and other data research and orchestration technologies.
Experience working in or with healthcare payer organizations.
A deep understanding of data security protocols and best practices to protect confidential healthcare information.
Base Compensation: $165-185k, 10% variable (leaning company-performance), equity
