Part-Time Child Caregiver – Olathe, KS 

A family in Olathe, KS 66062 is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly flexible caregiver for their 14-year-old daughter with special needs. The family shares custody and is hoping to find someone comfortable providing care in both parents’ homes. This role is ideal for someone patient, adaptable, and experienced supporting children with developmental disabilities and limited verbal communication.

Schedule:

• Summer Schedule: Approximately 15–20 hours per week with varying days and times
• Availability needed Monday through Friday, generally between 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Typical shifts are 4–6 hours; Family will usually provide 1–2 days’ notice for needed coverage
• Morning availability is especially important during June
• School Year Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 2:20 PM – 4:30 PM
• Start Date: June 1, 2026

Family Specifications:

• Household includes 1 dog
• Smoke-free environment 

Responsibilities:

• Provide supervision and companionship for a 14-year-old with special needs
• Assist with personal hygiene and bathroom cleanup as needed
• Prepare simple meals/lunches during summer care hours
• Support daily routines and ensure a safe environment
• Assist with transportation as needed
• Occasionally let family dog out into fenced backyard
• Support a child with limited verbal communication in a patient and respectful manner

Requirements:

• Experience caring for children with disabilities required
• Experience supporting children with very limited vocabulary preferred
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
• Must be comfortable working in a home with a dog
• Must be highly flexible with scheduling and varying coverage needs
• Ideally willing to provide care in both parents’ homes in Olathe, KS 66062
• CPR/First Aid Certification preferred

Compensation:

• $12–$15 per hour (commensurate with experience)
