A family in Haymarket, VA 20169 is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and energetic Care Partner to provide one-on-one support for a young adult with complex disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity to promote independence, support daily living and communication, and assist with meaningful community, recreational, and social activities while making a lasting impact.
Schedule:
- Training begins: August 1; Position begins: August 14
- Thursday & Friday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Family Specifications:
- One friendly service dog in the home
- He loves fashion, music, parties, horseback riding, swimming, going for walks and bike rides, playing basketball and soccer, going bowling, playing board games, going to church, and hanging out with his friends, family, and his service dog.
- Looking for someone who can build a genuine peer-mentor relationship while supporting social interaction and community involvement.
Responsibilities:
- Provide skill building support with personal care, hygiene, meals, and daily living activities
- Assist with medication administration, G-tube feedings, respiratory therapy, and other medical needs (training provided)
- Support safe transfers and mobility using adaptive equipment
- Encourage participation in community outings, recreational activities, and social events
- Partner Assistance with communication using a speech-generating device (training provided)
- Foster independence while providing hands-on support as needed
- Participate in swimming activities as part of a two-person support team
- Support use of social media to connect with friends and create content for reels and content
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to complete agency training and background checks
- Comfortable providing personal care and learning medical support tasks
- Patient, positive, dependable, and encouraging
- Comfortable working in a home with a service dog
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including assisting with transfers and mobility support
Preferred:
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs
- Background in childcare, education, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, or as a CNA
- Interest in fashion, social media, and community-based activities
Compensation:
- $21–$25 per hour (commensurate with experience)
- Position is funded through a Virginia Medicaid In-Home Supports agency. Valid driver's license, background check, and agency training are required.
