Part-Time Companion Caregiver – Montreal, QC 

A family in Montreal, QC H2X 2J9 is seeking a compassionate, skilled private caregiver/companion to provide support, companionship, and engagement for an older gentleman living in an assisted living facility. The family desires a caregiver that will provide companionship, encourage engagement, ensure safety, and support overall well-being. This position is a great opportunity for a nursing student.

Schedule Options:

  • Start Date: ASAP (pending a successful interview)
  • Monday–Thursday 9:00 AM or 9:30 AM start (1.5 hours per shift)
  • Actual shift length is negotiable

Family Specifications:

  • Located at CHSLD Centre-Ville De Montréal - Manoir L'Age-D'Or
  • Smoke-free environment
  • Pet-free environment

Responsibilities:

  • Provide meaningful companionship, conversation, and cognitive stimulation
  • Mobility support: prioritize walking with a walker and assist with pushing a wheelchair when needed
  • Accompany on walks and light outdoor/yard activities
  • Health encouragement: gently promote healthy eating habits (e.g., protein/eggs) and adequate hydration
  • Provide gentle reminders (e.g., medication)
  • Patiently engage and encourage participation, building a trusting relationship over time

Requirements:

  • Fluency in both Mandarin and French is essential (facility staff is French-speaking)
  • Proven experience working with older adults (great for nursing students)
  • Patient, caring demeanor with experience engaging individuals who may be reluctant or resistant to care
  • Physical ability to assist with walker mobility and push a wheelchair
  • First Aid and CPR certifications required

Compensation:

  • $25–$30 per hour (negotiable based on experience)
