Part Time Pediatric Caregiver / Nanny – Canton, MA

 

A welcoming family in Canton, MA is seeking an attentive, reliable caregiver for their verbal 14-year-old child on the autism spectrum. The home includes a dog and a tortoise, and maintains a smoke-free environment.

 

Schedule:

• Temporary overnight coverage for mid October (exact dates to be discussed during interview in order to maintain family’s safety)
• Ongoing part-time care: Occasional date night care (~1 night per week; flexible on exact days and times)

 

Family Specifications:

• Smoke-free home environment
• Pet-friendly home (1 dog and 1 tortoise)
• Family values a caregiver who enjoys supporting special interests including arts & crafts, games, reading, and music

 

Responsibilities:

• Provide continuous, line-of-sight supervision. This client is self-sufficient when bathing, and with personal care needs.
• Execute a specialized seizure safety plan from the neurologist, including administration of nasal spray medication if required
• Administer daily/regular medications as directed
• Plan, prepare, and serve meals and snacks. Meals will be prepared ahead of time
• Transport child to and from school and extracurricular activities
• Engage in creative, enriching activities (arts & crafts, interactive games, reading, and listening to music)

 

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience caring for individuals on the autism spectrum and with developmental delays
• CPR certification
• Seizure response experience (including familiarity with emergency nasal spray administration)

• Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a reliable personal vehicle
• Fluent in English
  
  

Preferred:

• Experience with overnight special needs care

 

Compensation:

• $22–$26 per hour (Gas stipend/reimbursement provided when using personal vehicle for transportation)
