Infusion RN - Full Time Float
Summary:
The Infusion Nurse coordinates and provides infusion services to assure consistent care coordination through out the continuum of care for patients entering the clinic. Assesses the physical, psychological, and social needs of the patient, and improves the care experience for the patient and their family. Responsible for the total nursing care of patients in the infusion suites as assigned site. Promotes collaborative interdisciplinary communication with patients, family members or caregivers, and all members of the healthcare team. Meets the needs of the patient in relation to education, screening, prevention and follow-up care. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED: |
Graduate from an accredited nursing program. |
Must have at least one (1) year of nursing experience in a medical, surgical, and/or clinical setting. |
Current license to practice as a professional nurse in the state where work is performed, or compact license.
All new hires and transfers are required to have BLS certification.

Key Job Responsibilities:
- Assesses the physical, psychological, and social needs of the patient, and improves the care experience for the patient and their family.
- Promotes a seamless flow through the outpatient health system to facilitate the patient’s care.
- Provides and oversees direct patient care in accordance with established nursing practice, clinical training, approved protocols and providers’ orders
- Provides safe, effective, appropriate and comprehensive infusion services, including chemotherapy to patients
- Utilizes knowledge of medications, treatment plans, procedures, infection control, and safety precaution; and initiates appropriate interventions in crisis situations.
- Demonstrates competency in access and maintenance of peripherally inserted and indwelling venous access devices.
- Develops and coordinates education, resources, and activities that provide understanding and support for patients and caregivers receiving chemotherapeutic and non-chemotherapeutic medications or treatments. .
- Maintains reliable systems to document, track and monitor patient data and care administered.
- The Infusion RN will be administering chemotherapy according to research trials (if applicable to that site) and therefore will be required to sign-on to the research studies after completion of 6 months.
- May perform telephone follow-up within the scope of RN role.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Supervision Provided by this Position:
- There are no supervisory roles assigned to this position.
Physical Demands/Conditions:
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
- Ability to handle and administer medications, vaccinations and immunizations as needed.
