Position Overview
The RN Lead is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of patient care within an assigned team of Registered Nurses. This position oversees patient assignments, case management, and quality improvement, while collaborating across departments to promote operational effectiveness and exceptional patient care. The RN Lead provides clinical expertise, promotes professional practice, and fosters a positive and supportive team environment.
No nights, weekends, or holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate department operations including staff scheduling, patient assignments, and monitoring of departmental activities
- Provide direct patient care as needed, functioning in the roles of Oncology Nurse Navigator or Infusion Nurse
- Communicate effectively and timely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Demonstrate leadership and foster professional practice within the nursing care team
- Support staff development in collaboration with the Clinical Resource Nurse and Nursing Director
- Ensure team compliance with federal, state, local, and system policies, as well as regulatory standards
- Assist the Nursing Director with payroll and timekeeping duties
- Participate in Medical Oncology operational meetings and committees to drive continuous improvements
- Promote a positive work environment and contribute to staff retention and engagement
- Implement new processes to improve efficiency and maintain patient safety
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Completion of an accredited nursing program (required)
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience at West Cancer Center and five (5) years of RN experience (required)
Licensure & Certification
- Current RN license in the state of employment (required)
- BLS Certification required for all new hires and transfers
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated clinical expertise and leadership abilities
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage complex situations and resolve problems
- Proven ability to organize multiple tasks and projects effectively
