Position Overview
As a Pharmacy Initiatives Specialist, you will support the coordination and delivery of medications within the pharmacy department while leading logistics and administrative processes such as prior authorizations, medication fulfillment, and patient assistance. You’ll act as a primary liaison between pharmacy, clinical teams, patients, and third-party organizations to ensure seamless care and access to medications. No nights, weekends, or holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage pharmacy workflows and logistics for medication fulfillment and delivery between infusion and oral pharmacy
- Process prescriptions electronically, ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Coordinate prior authorizations, benefit verifications, and EMR documentation
- Research insurance benefits, claims, and financial assistance options for patients
- Maintain compliance with pharmacy law, regulations, and internal procedures
- Serve as liaison between pharmacy, medical providers, patients, payers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers
- Build relationships with staff, physicians, and stakeholders to optimize service and patient satisfaction
- Provide expert consultation on pharmacy initiatives and continuous process improvement
- Assist in pharmacy operations as needed and attend staff meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- 2–3 years of pharmacy experience or equivalent combination of education and training
- Experience managing pharmacy workflows and navigating health systems
Licensure & Certification
- PTCB certification or equivalent (required)
- Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy Registration (required)
Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of medication access, dose measurement, and pharmacy law
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency in computer systems including email and word processing
- Ability to analyze data, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Ability to adapt and work independently or within cross-functional teams
