Director of Enterprise Data Engineering

Role Overview
Reporting to the SVP of Technology & Enterprise Strategy, the Director of Enterprise Data Engineering is responsible for establishing the organization’s enterprise architecture practice and building a scalable enterprise data platform that supports business growth, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making. This leader will define the enterprise technology and data platform strategy, oversee the implementation of the enterprise data warehouse, and partner with business and technology leaders to deliver secure, scalable, and integrated solutions.
Working closely with external implementation partners, the Director will provide technical oversight throughout platform development, assume ownership of the production environment following go-live, and establish the architecture and data engineering capabilities needed to support the organization’s long-term technology and analytics strategy.
Candidates located more than 50 miles from the Denver office may work remotely. Candidates based in Denver area are expected to work a hybrid schedule, with two days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Technology Strategy
- Establish the organization’s Enterprise Architecture function, including governance, standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps.
- Develop and maintain enterprise technology strategies that support organizational growth, acquisitions, and digital transformation.
- Partner with executive and business leaders to evaluate technology investments and align solutions with business objectives.
- Define architectural standards for applications, integrations, cloud platforms, infrastructure, security, and data.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and ensure enterprise solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term business needs.
Data Platform & Engineering
- Lead the implementation and ongoing evolution of the enterprise data warehouse and data platform.
- Develop scalable data integration, modeling, and engineering capabilities that provide trusted, governed data for enterprise reporting, analytics and AI initiatives.
- Establish data governance, data quality, and master data management practices to ensure trusted enterprise data.
- Ensure the data platform meets performance, scalability, security, and disaster recovery requirements.
- Partner with Business Data Analytics Lead and Director of Business Intelligence to deliver prioritized data platform capabilities, integrations, and enterprise data solutions.
Platform Ownership & Delivery
- Serve as the technical owner of the enterprise data platform throughout implementation and into production.
- Partner with external implementation vendors to review architecture, engineering designs, code quality, and technical deliverables.
- Provide technical oversight through design, development, testing, deployment, and production readiness.
- Assume ownership of the production environment following go-live, establishing operational support, monitoring, release management, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute the roadmap for future platform enhancements and new technology capabilities.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build, lead, and mentor the Enterprise Architecture and Data Engineering team.
- Establish engineering standards, development practices, and operational processes that promote quality and consistency.
- Manage technology vendors, implementation partners, budgets, and strategic technology investments.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive professional IT experience (exclusive of education), including leadership experience in enterprise architecture, data engineering, enterprise applications, or data platform technologies.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise data warehouses and modern data platforms.
- Hands-on experience with one or more modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, or Microsoft Fabric).
- Strong technical expertise in SQL, dbt, Git, data pipeline development and integration, dimensional modeling, semantic modeling, and Power BI.
- Experience partnering with third-party implementation vendors and transitioning enterprise platforms into internal operational ownership.
- Proven ability to build and lead technical teams, establish governance, and successfully deliver cross-functional technology initiatives.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and executive stakeholder management skills.

This is a good-faith estimate based on the role's requirements at the time of posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for bonus and incentive compensation, the terms of which will be provided at the time of offer. The Company offers a comprehensive benefits package that may include medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, sick leave, 401(k), and other benefits depending on role and location. Colorado Pay Range
$185,000 - $215,000 USD
