Veterinary Hospital Manager

Raleigh, NC

Are you a natural leader with a passion for animal care and team development?

Boulevard Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Hospital Manager who brings together operational excellence, a talent for mentorship, and a genuine commitment to team culture. This is a practice with real roots — team members with 20+ years of tenure, lifelong friendships built within these walls, and a community in Raleigh that has trusted Boulevard for decades. We're looking for someone who can honor that legacy while leading the team confidently into its next chapter.

As our Hospital Manager, you'll work closely with the Medical Director and regional leadership team, taking ownership of daily operations and guiding the hospital toward continued growth and excellence. This is a role for someone who is organized, people-first, and ready to own their hospital — not someone looking for a hands-off management role.

One thing that makes this role unique at Boulevard: our ideal candidate is someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves. When the team needs it, we'd love a Hospital Manager who is willing to step in at the front desk or lend a hand on the clinical floor as a veterinary assistant. This isn't an everyday expectation — but the right person for this role leads from the front, and our team notices and appreciates when leadership shows up alongside them.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Financial Leadership: Monitor hospital performance, manage budgets, oversee payroll and financial operations, and drive business growth through data-informed decisions.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure efficient workflow, maintain regulatory compliance (OSHA, DEA, VMB), manage equipment and inventory, and implement hospital policies and procedures.
  • Strategic Direction: Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute long-term goals, expand services, and support referral and business partnerships.
  • Project & Facility Management: Lead day-to-day operations, scheduling, and maintenance while aligning administrative functions with overall hospital objectives.
  • Client & Community Engagement: Oversee marketing strategies, resolve client concerns, enhance client experience, and foster retention and growth.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and support department leads, oversee hiring and development, maintain staffing levels, and promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
  • Hands-On Leadership: Willingness to step in at the front desk or assist on the clinical floor as a veterinary assistant when operationally needed — leading by example is part of the culture here

Schedule, benefits and compensation**:

This is a full-time, in-person role with Saturday availability required. Boulevard also operates a boarding facility with overnight and weekend boarders, and while staff are scheduled for boarding care, call-outs may occasionally require phone availability outside of standard hours to coordinate coverage. We're looking for someone who understands that great hospital management sometimes means being available when it counts.

  • Compensation: $58,000 - 64,000 annual base salary
  • Bi-annual bonus opportunities: Based on hospital performance
  • Hiring bonus package: $2000 based on credentials
  • CE allowance: up to $1,000 based on credentials
  • Health package: Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401k with match
  • Paid time off in accordance with site policy and applicable law
  • Personal pet discount

Your Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of leadership, business management, or operations management experience required.
  • Veterinary hospital management experience strongly preferred; medical, dental, or healthcare practice management experience also considered.
  • Previous veterinary experience (e.g., Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistant, or Client Service Representative) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree, Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM), or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, staffing, scheduling, and day-to-day operations.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficient with business software and able to adapt quickly to new systems.
  • Comfort stepping into a client-facing or clinical support role when the team needs coverage — prior veterinary assistant or CSR experience is a genuine plus.
