Funny name, serious business
We make eco-friendly products and donate 50% of our profits to provide clean water and help build toilets for the billions of people who lack proper access. So far, we’ve contributed over $18 million AUD (roughly $12.5 million USD) to fund sanitation projects around the globe. Basically, we’re really good at doing good.
With hubs in Australia, the Philippines, China, the US, UK and Europe, our amazing team of 200+ work to make the biggest possible impact for people and the planet. Over the next couple of years, we’re hoping to increase our annual donation tenfold to get us closer to our dream of everyone in the world having access to clean water and sanitation services.
A bit about the role
We are looking for a Finance BI and Data Engineer for a 12-month contract to act as the technical engine behind the transformation of our Finance function from standard data outputs to true value creation. Sitting within our Number Scrunchers / FP&A team and reporting to the Head of FP&A, you will design, build, and embed a real-time, self-service reporting layer that becomes our Single Source of Truth for 3-way financials.
Your mission is to systematically eliminate capability debt and manual reconciliation. By building an advanced profitability attribution engine and deploying applied ML/AI techniques for automated forecasting, you will directly accelerate our leadership team's ability to make high-impact, confident capital allocation decisions.
If you worked here this past month here are some things you might have been involved in:
-
Engineering a Financial Single Source of Truth: Designing intuitive data models and semantic layers in Snowflake to build a real-time, self-service 3-way reporting layer for our Board and Executive team.
-
Building a Profitability Engine: Partnering with our Commercial and Supply Chain squads to build and systematize a P&L attribution model mapped to channels, markets, and products.
-
Prototyping Predictive AI Tools: Collaborating with FP&A to deploy applied ML/AI techniques for automated cash and P&L forecasting, scenario modeling, and anomaly detection with robust human-in-the-loop controls.
-
Evaluating Core Tooling: Leading the technical evaluation and reconfiguration/replacement assessment of our NetSuite Planning and Budgeting (NSPB) module and broader BI tool ecosystem.
-
Driving Data Governance: Establishing auditable reconciliation frameworks between your new reporting layer and source systems to maintain total data trust, while codifying sustainable documentation for a seamless hand-off.
Let’s talk about you
-
The Experience: You bring strong platform and data infrastructure experience, with a proven track record of scoping, tracking, and executing end-to-end data pipelines, tool implementations, or systems-level transformation roadmaps.
-
A Systems Thinker: You have a unique ability to see how platforms, integrations, data flows, and manual team workflows connect into a singular ecosystem. You easily spot where constraints in one area create bottlenecks across the whole P&L.
-
Technical & Architecture Savvy: You are highly proficient in data architecture (ideally with Snowflake or similar data lakes), data modeling, semantic layers, and custom integration layers with ERPs or financial planning tools (like NetSuite).
-
Practically Fluent in AI: You have a demonstrated history of utilizing practical AI/ML tools or predictive modeling workflows to turn unstructured or fragmented data into automated, highly reliable business solutions.
-
A Collaborative Translator: You effortlessly bridge the gap between finance requirements, data engineering standards, and non-technical business leaders. You are comfortable challenging legacy manual habits and ad-hoc reporting loops to protect the core architectural roadmap.
You give a crap
Do you want your work to make the world a better place? Do you want to work with other people who feel the same way? What a coincidence — us too!
Why should you work with us?
First off, as a certified B Corp™, we work to make a difference every day while maintaining the highest standards of social and environmental impact. With our most recent score of 125.5 we’re in very good company with other exceptional B Corps around the world.
We also believe that helping to make the world a better place should be rewarded accordingly – that’s why we offer competitive, market informed salaries, meaningful support towards healthcare for our team around the world, generous paid leave, tailored learning and development opportunities, and free toilet paper (yes, you read that right).
Our engagement surveys (thanks Culture Amp!) tell us that our team is really proud (95%) to work for Who Gives A Crap and, well, we couldn’t be more proud of that.
Have you made it this far?
If you’re still reading, we think there’s a strong chance you might be our kind of person. Here’s the thing, though — research suggests that 60% of women and underrepresented folks might have already talked themselves out of applying. Even if you don’t check every box above, we want to encourage you to introduce yourself. We believe a diversity of perspectives and experiences makes a team stronger — and the stronger our team, the closer we are to delivering toilets and clean water for all.
