About the role:

We’re seeking a dynamic PR & Communications Manager in our DACH region to help elevate our brand’s presence with compelling communications, brand marketing, and game-changing PR initiatives.

As the DACH PR & Communications Manager, you'll be the driving force behind Whalar’s voice in the market. Your role is pivotal in crafting and executing strategic PR and Communications initiatives that don’t just enhance our visibility—they make us unforgettable. This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to manage public relations, brand marketing, event support, and internal communications needs. 

This role will focus on supporting Whalar in the growing DACH region to build brand awareness on behalf of the agency and is adept at navigating regional media landscapes and market dynamics to deliver impactful results. 

 

Here’s what you’ll do day to day:

  • Build, strengthen, and sustain the reputation of Whalar internally and externally across the DACH region.
  • Continue to build meaningful relationships with relevant media targets to ensure Whalar’s ethos and approach to work are at the top of mind – ensuring fresh work and thinking are shared regularly.
  • Assist in external consumer PR needs for Whalar clients and brand platform partners. 
  • Track editorial calendars, press coverage, stay on top of cultural trends, and track other opportune moments to identify and pitch meaningful stories.
  • Support in thought leadership plans inclusive of industry conferences and events to showcase leaders on stage and in editorial content. 
  • Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, interview briefing documents, media kits, and other materials to relevant media outlets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers/Creators, and media representatives.
  • Assist in managing media inquiries and coordinating interviews and press conferences on behalf of Whalar.
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on PR activities and effectiveness.
  • Partner with the team on internal communications plans to set Whalar DACH up for success.  
  • Collaborate with the Whalar Group PR team to align our global messaging when speaking about Whalar DACH.
  • Plan and support events as needed, including campaign launches, industry, client dinners, and promotional events.
  • Assist in building and amplifying in-market case studies and work stories.
  • Assist in managing vendors, agency subscriptions, translations, and invoices on behalf of PR and Communications activations for Whalar. 

 

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 3-5 years in PR and Marketing roles, preferably an agency with a strong understanding of both traditional and creative PR agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content and engage with various stakeholders. 
    • Must speak and write fluently in German and English.  
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Creative storyteller and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage relationships with external partners.
  • A curious self-starter with a problem-solving mindset and a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Strong relationships with German and other DACH publications. 
  • Proven ability to create and manage timelines with attention to detail.
  • Experience in budget tracking and vendor management.
  • Proficient in presentation management, PR newswire, PR tracking (i.e., Muck Rack, Meltwater, Cision), Google Slides, Powerpoint, and/or Keynote.
