🤑  About the Finance Team

The Whatnot Finance team consists of FP&A, Tax, and Accounting. The Accounting team is responsible for financial reporting, year-end audits, payroll processing, and accounting operations.

💻 Role 

  • As the Global Equity Administrator you will assist in building and scaling Whatnot’s stock administration function 
  • Manage all equity plan transactions globally (grants, releases, cancellations, performance-based tracking etc.) and maintenance of the equity database
  • Partner closely with the company's Legal, People Operations, Tax and other teams, as necessary to complete all transactional processes: new grants, vesting events, exercises, terminations / cancellations, etc.
  • Own process improvement and automation including enhancing and documenting equity-related procedures and policies and managing relationships with external service providers
  • Assist with preparation of stock-related matters in Company annual and periodic financial statements including stock based compensation
  • Assist with the 409a valuation process
  • Preparing monthly payroll/equity journal entries, reconciliations and equity rollforward calculations for payroll and equity transactions 
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding their stock awards and manage the Equity team’s shared mailbox
  • Support broad-based educational programs and communications related to our employee equity programs and policies in conjunction with our equity administrator/broker
  • Perform other duties and ad hoc projects and reporting as requested

Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our New York, San Francisco, or Los Angeles hubs.

As our next Global Equity Administrator you should have 3 to 5 years in a stock compensation administration role at a public company or service provider, or in public accounting or a comparable finance role plus:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
  • Familiarity with applying US GAAP ASC 718 Compensation - Stock Compensation and ASC 505 Equity
  • Excellent computer knowledge, including proficiency in Excel
  • General knowledge of various types of equity awards and programs
  • General understanding of accounting standards related to equity compensation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required for frequent interaction with company employees
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high initiative, flexibility, and team approach to work
  • Acute attention to detail and well developed organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Exceptional candidates will have...

  • Certified Equity Professional (CEP) certification
  • Experience implementing relevant systems and processes to serve a fast-growing start-up environment
  • Experience bringing organization to teams and streamlining processes within organizations

💰Compensation

 $140,000/year to $155,000/year + benefits + stock options

The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity.
