Digital Advertising Strategist (Paid Media/ Advertising)
The Digital Advertising Strategist is responsible for developing sophisticated multi-channel digital advertising strategies that create exceptional business value for our clients. This includes the creation of media plans across multiple platforms, budget planning and pacing, ongoing analysis, testing and optimization of media strategies, performance insights, and client management. You will work closely with your entire practice, but especially with the Digital Advertising Analysts who are responsible for buying, activation and optimization on your accounts.

You’re experienced in Digital Advertising across Search, Social, and Programmatic and are continuously looking to take your impact to the next level with new platforms and strategies. You know the ins and outs of how campaigns run and get deep satisfaction and joy from delivering exceptional business value for clients. You’re self-motivated and get a thrill from beating your own past performance. You’re perpetually curious, you’re constantly learning, and asking how to push the envelope. You’re not afraid to fail but do so quickly and learn from the experience. You love to quarterback a team. You’re great at looking at the bigger picture to understand what needs to get done, and how to get there. You lead by example and are confident and capable of executing the strategies you propose.

What you will do:

  • Learn your clients’ businesses as if they are your own including your clients’ internal priorities. Conduct meetings, market and competitor research.
  • Create bespoke digital media strategies for clients that are prioritized around driving business value and scaling. Develop a strategic roadmap of initiatives and work closely with your Digital Advertising team to successfully implement.
  • Craft a compelling story for client strategies that convey the value and importance of your recommendations
  • Can speak to strategy and cascading tactics at a high (or Executive) level, as well as at a deep, in the weeds (Practitioner) level.
  • Speak the language of data and can communicate that as easily with clients as you can our internal data team
  • Craft clear agendas for internal and external meetings to ensure every meeting has a clear purpose and outcome.
  • Lead mid-year and annual presentation planning and creation for your clients, including working cross-department
  • Stay up to date on the latest news and updates in the Digital Media space, as well as news and updates within a client’s industry, including their competitive landscape.
  • Delegate tasks or follow-ups among team members, set deadlines, troubleshoot and mentor to ensure fantastic results.
  • Surface wins internally and to clients.
  • Consistently evaluate expansion opportunities
  • Work closely with content and creative teams, both client-side and within Wheelhouse, to ideate campaign assets that will make an impact. Test and report against content and creative assets.
  • Develop unified strategies across Paid Search, Paid Social, and Programmatic Display channels. Research and develop campaigns for additional channels and platforms beneficial to your clients, including industry-specific and direct buys.
  • Collaborate with channel experts, strategists, and team members to produce best-in-class digital campaigns. Advocate for cross-team initiatives to support client performance.

What you bring to the team.

  • 5+ years experience managing and optimizing digital campaigns across Search Ads (Google / Microsoft), Social Ads (Facebook /LinkedIn), Programmatic (any DSP, but Basis preferred)
  • Additional channels such as Amazon, Yahoo, TikTok, OTT and podcast ads are a plus
  • Programmatic/DSP experience level/understanding is preferred.
  • 5+ years managing media budgets across platforms and maintaining ROAS or CPA targets
  • 4+ year of Google Analytics (or other web analytics) for reporting, conversion tracking, and attribution
  • 4+ years of A/B testing experience on relevant ad platforms
  • 4+ year in a client-facing role
  • Experience developing multi-channel strategies that drive significant value
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with Advanced Excel Knowledge
  • Financial, medical, and healthcare media management experience a plus
  • Analytical and creative thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a strong ability to craft compelling narratives and tell impactful stories, particularly for presentations, strategy decks, and client performance reviews
  • Detail oriented with extremely high standards for ensuring your client’s campaigns are “audit proof”
  • Highly self-motivated and always looking for opportunities to improve and expand client campaigns and channels. Not afraid to try new things.
  • Relentless drive to create value with a strong sense of urgency, empathy, and ability to prioritize appropriately
  • Enthusiastic about mentorship and helping your team members grow their skills
  • Able to have “kind truth” conversations to share critical feedback in kind but effective ways
Full compensation packages are based on the skills and experience of the candidate. Candidates hired in this role should expect an offer in this range. The monetary value of additional benefits, such as insurance, time-off and fringe benefits are not included in this range. This only outlines the value of the salary portion of the offer. Compensation Range

$105,000 - $133,000 USD
