Funny name, serious business
We make eco-friendly products and donate 50% of our profits to provide clean water and help build toilets for the billions of people who lack proper access. So far, we’ve contributed over $13.3 million AUD (roughly $8.9 million USD) to fund sanitation projects around the globe. Basically, we’re really good at doing good.
With hubs in Australia, the Philippines, China, the US, UK and Europe, our amazing team of 200+ work to make the biggest possible impact for people and the planet. Over the next couple of years, we’re hoping to increase our annual donation tenfold to get us closer to our dream of everyone in the world having access to clean water and sanitation services.
A bit about the role
With this growing team and audacious goal in mind, we need a Senior Systems Engineer to join our IT Operations team in its journey to enhance our cloud environment through innovative strategies and automation.
Reporting to the IT Ops Manager, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our tech keeps up with our ambitions. This role isn’t just about maintenance, it’s about building the future of our cloud systems and contributing to something bigger. This hybrid role blends the best of both worlds combining traditional systems administration with advanced cloud engineering, ensuring seamless integration, automation, and security of our SaaS and GCP environments.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll help keep the lights on by monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancing our cloud systems and levelling up our tech stack while implementing best practices for scalability and resilience. Additionally, you get to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive cloud adoption, automate workflows, and mentor junior staff, ensuring our infrastructure is robust, efficient, and future-ready.
If you worked here this past month here are some things you might have been involved in
- Automating Onboarding and Offboarding: You’d have been brushing off your coding skills to improve workflows for access provisioning and deprovisioning, collaborating with our People and Culture team to align automations with policy.
- Leading Cross-Team Workshops: Sharing your cloud expertise with teams across the business, you might have hosted a workshop on cloud security best practices, helping everyone understand why our cloud setup is critical to our ISO 27001 goals.
- Rolling Up Your Sleeves for Troubleshooting: Encountered a pesky performance issue with our SaaS integrations? You’d jump right in, analysing logs, running tests, and getting everything back in smooth working order.
- Exploring New Tech: Spotted a cool new tool for cloud optimisation? You’d be experimenting with it, seeing how it could streamline our infrastructure and recommending adoption if it fits our needs.
- Adding Some Fun to Documentation: Yes, documentation! You’d bring your creativity here, helping us build out knowledge management in an engaging, accessible way, making it easier for others to find answers on their own.

You’re a natural translator of technical-ese
You're a natural translator of complex technical concepts. While you'll spend much of your time focusing on security and managing SaaS applications within Google Cloud Platform, you also thrive on interacting with people—especially team members who rely on the software, applications, and hardware (like laptops) that we manage. You're able to communicate technical matters clearly and engagingly. You know how to ask the right questions to diagnose issues and are skilled at understanding users' concerns, even when they can't articulate the technical details.
You’re proactive and adaptable
No two days are the same. Some days will be spent working with end-users (team members) to resolve countless small problems while other days will be spent on project-based tasks and future planning.
You’re a voracious learner
IT/Technology is ever-changing. You might be confronted with new problems hence, you see the need to adapt and evolve so you must have a passion for new knowledge, acquiring new skills and learning new technologies.
You deliver and delight
Supporting and engaging with your internal customers is at the forefront of your daily activities. You have a strong desire to help and provide exemplary service, ensuring that every interaction is positive and productive. No problem is too big or too small; you're committed to resolving issues efficiently. Your projects and initiatives always keep a strong focus on the end-users' and team's experience. Your exceptional customer engagement and support capabilities are critical to delivering solutions that not only meet but exceed expectations.
You give a crap
Do you want your work to make the world a better place? Do you want to work with other people who feel the same way? What a coincidence — us too!
Why should you work with us?
First off, as a certified B Corp™, we work to make a difference every day while maintaining the highest standards of social and environmental impact. With our most recent score of 125.5 we’re in very good company with other exceptional B Corps around the world.
We also believe that helping to make the world a better place should be rewarded accordingly – that’s why we offer competitive, market informed salaries, meaningful support towards healthcare for our team around the world, generous paid leave, tailored learning and development opportunities, and free toilet paper (yes, you read that right).
Our engagement surveys (thanks Culture Amp!) tell us that our team is really proud (98%) to work for Who Gives A Crap and, well, we couldn’t be more proud of that.
Have you made it this far?
If you’re still reading, we think there’s a strong chance you might be our kind of person. Here’s the thing, though — research suggests that 60% of women and underrepresented folks might have already talked themselves out of applying. Even if you don’t check every box above, we want to encourage you to introduce yourself. We believe a diversity of perspectives and experiences makes a team stronger — and the stronger our team, the closer we are to delivering toilets and clean water for all.
