Are you a tenacious problem solver, tinkerer, and can you thrive in ambiguity? Our Product SEO & GEO Strategists are integral parts of our Marketing team at TELUS Digital. To help retain our deep culture of collaboration, this Senior role will maintain an in-office presence in a hybrid capacity (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays). This role can be located in Boston, MA, Columbus, OH, Charlottesville, VA, or Durham, NC. 

The Opportunity

Our Senior Product SEO & GEO Strategist will help shape how SEO, Generative AI Engine Optimization (GEO), and App Store Optimization (ASO)  integrates into WillowTree project work, regardless of what platform people begin their search journey. The days of keyword optimization as a primary lever are over. We view Search Everywhere Optimization as an extension of UX that may boost organic traffic, but more importantly drives qualified, converting users. 

You'll play an integral part on cross-functional project teams and support business development efforts as capacity allows. You’ll conduct site audits, build requirements, drive content strategy, and shape our product team’s strategy for SEO and GEO. You’ll mold best practices for both clients and internal teams, analyze search traffic behavior, recommend audience segmentation strategies, and influence AI Search tactics. Additionally, you'll serve as the primary point of contact for SEO- and GEO-related client questions.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve with the AI Search landscape as new tools & methodologies are developed around AEO/GEO, and Generative AI models.
    Develop & deliver exec-level presentations that highlight SEO, ASO, and GEO insights, technical enhancements, content recommendations, training materials, etc., for internal and client teams
  • Conduct technical SEO, GEO, and ASO audits with prioritized recommendations that interweaves with a product team’s roadmap of ongoing feature development work
  • Develop custom technical SEO requirements, such as Schema Markup recommendations and 301 redirect maps, for Engineering teams to implement
  • Build & maintain custom technical requirements that keeps up with industry changes & best practices that can be leveraged by the broader SEO team
  • Design and implement automated regression tests with Test Engineers across multiple environments to identify site issues that impact SEO
  • Collaborate daily with cross-disciplinary teams such as Engineering & Test Engineering, Analytics, Design, Content, Strategy, and Research to create an amazing product experience for our clients
  • Drive audience & topic research for both SEO & ASO projects to influence content strategies for the client backed by data that looks way past just keywords
  • Conduct client competitor research to develop meaningful, quantitative, and qualitative insights that drive an SEO Strategy but also directly ladder up to a client’s business goals.
  • Design reporting dashboards with event tracking, custom formulas, and segmentation in partnership with Analytics Architects that drive business impact and ladder up to clients’ business objectives
  • Drive strategy for the product teams with a ‘data-driven mindset’ using analytics and other SaaS tools to better drive qualified traffic and enhance the conversion rate that directly drives client business impact
  • Monitor SEO, GEO, and ASO industry trends to inform new strategies while also avoiding the trap of “shiny objects”
  • Collaborate with client & project teams to create & maintain an ASO strategy for app store listings
  • Drive collaboration on project work across many product team disciplines while also tapping into and elevating the work of the broader SEO team
  • Work autonomously on up to four projects at a time
  • Drive the Product SEO team to discover creative uses of our SaaS tools
  • Support more junior team members and offer mentorship
  • Be active on LinkedIn publishing thought leadership, sharing blog posts, and driving engagement & visibility for the TELUS Digital brand
  • Support business development efforts as part of the “Offers” team within our Marketing Services team as bandwidth allows 

Qualifications

  • You’re a tenacious problem solver, tinkerer, and you thrive in ambiguity
  • A data-driven approach and understanding of how web performance, usability, and other facets of web technologies like LLMs, voice search, and A/B testing can impact SEO and GEO
  • A growth mindset and passion to continuously learn about web development and other intersections of SEO, GEO, and ASO
  • Experience working daily with GenAI tools to expedite your research & outputs
  • 6+ years SEO experience at a digital agency or in-house
  • Expert knowledge about modern web technologies and understand server-side rendering, single-page applications, and how search engine & AI bots crawl a site
  • Very strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSON-LD, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
  • Anecdotal evidence of how you’ve developed or implemented technical SEO and content recommendations that drove organic search channel growth and met a client's business outcomes
  • Expert ability to communicate your ideas and tactical recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences including executive stakeholders
  • Data guides your every move, and you have a strong ability to frame a narrative around your recommendations, identify risks & blockers, and prioritize work against other feature work
  • Demonstrated experience for how web performance, usability, and other facets of web technologies like LLMs, voice search, and A/B testing can impact SEO, with the experience & ability to create forecasting models estimating the impact of implementing work
  • Expert experience with tools such as: Sparktoro, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Amplitude, Looker Studio, SEMRush, seoClarity, Ahrefs, or any manner of LLM and AI-supported tools
  • Can deftly manage workload and commitments on up to 4 client or business development projects at a time
  • A tenacious approach to problem-solving and can navigate ambiguity with grace
  • A self-starter who can operate independently across offices and in remote environments
  • A growth mindset and passion to continuously learn about web development and other intersections of SEO & GEO (like Engineering, Design, and Content Strategy)

Bonus Points

  • Advanced training, certifications, and/or a degree in Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field
  • Active thought leader in LinkedIn and/or blogger
  • Background in Web Development, UX, Content Marketing, and/or Product Strategy
  • Experience and/or interest in App Store Optimization (ASO)
  • Familiarity with A/B/n and multivariate testing methodologies
  • Direct experience with web products, native mobile apps, and development teams
  • Experience with JIRA and similar project management platforms
  • Agile development methodology experience
  • Previous product agency experience

Annual Salary Range 

$112,000 - $ 118,400.00 USD
