About The Role:

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer who can architect, build, and scale key parts of our platform while setting the technical and cultural bar for the team.

This is a deeply hands-on role: you’ll write production code daily, design system architecture end-to-end, and guide younger engineers with clarity and humility. You’ll own the technical direction for major features across our stack.

What You’ll Do:

Architecture & System Design

• Own architectural design for major product areas across frontend, backend, and data layers.
• Model B2B workflows, permissions, and complex multi-step flows end-to-end.
• Establish API boundaries, GraphQL schemas, and performance-sensitive data patterns.
• Build for scale, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

Hands-On Development

• Ship high-impact features across our stack (Next.js, Relay, GraphQL, Node/Express, Prisma, Postgres).
• Solve hard technical problems, from performance bottlenecks to schema evolution.
• Lead technical deep dives, design docs, and code reviews.

Security, Quality & Reliability

• Drive secure development practices, type safety, input validation, and access control patterns.
• Improve logging, monitoring, and operational readiness as our client base scales.

Culture & Team Development

• Set engineering culture and best practices through example, not authority.
• Help shape how the team works: documentation, patterns, testing approach, code quality.
• Support younger engineers through thoughtful guidance and pairing.
• Participate in hiring and help define what a “great engineer” looks like here.

Who You Are:

• 7+ years building modern web applications, including architecting and scaling B2B systems.
• Strong experience with most of our core stack:
• Next.js / React
• GraphQL / Relay
• Node.js / Express
• Prisma / Postgres
• Architectural depth: you’ve owned system design in real production environments.
• You think in tradeoffs, not absolutes; you can explain why a solution is right for this context.
• You write clean, type-safe code and care about maintainability.
• You elevate teams: clear communicator, calm under pressure, ego-free collaborator.
• You thrive in lean, fast-moving environments and enjoy ambiguity.
• You want ownership and autonomy, not layers of process.

For candidates based in the United States, the expected pay range for this position at the start of employment is $180,000 – $275,000/year. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as market location, job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. This role may also be eligible for additional variable compensation, including quota-based incentives where applicable.
