Position Summary:

The Legal Nurse at Witherite Law Group will play a key role in supporting the firm's medical education efforts, particularly in helping clients and team members understand medical cases, treatment guidelines, and injury aspects. This role involves assisting with the development and implementation of clinical models, conducting case audits, and providing ongoing medical education through training programs. The Legal Nurse will also conduct literature reviews, assist with medical writing, and ensure that treatment protocols are aligned with best practices. Additionally, the position requires a strong focus on client communication, providing compassionate support and clear explanations of medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in implementation of clinical models and systems throughout treatment modalities that our clients may experience
- Advising on cases and assisting team member and clients through medical education
- Monitors ongoing implementation and effectiveness of processes to evaluate and maintain quality standards of treatment guidelines
- Assists in the development, maintenance, and implementation of training programs both one-on-one and group settings, both virtual and face-to-face
- Conducts and assists in case audits and analysis trends and patterns
- Educates new employees in New Hire Orientation and New Hire Training on a variety of appropriate medical knowledge areas
- Conducts literature reviews utilizing multiple data bases for research related to cases.
- Assist clients and teams with understanding of case related injuries aspects and probable treatment
- Assists with medical writings for publications internal and external and training utilizing multiple software applications.
- Assesses department needs to determine medical knowledge training requirements
- Assists in communication to clients; clarifies treatment procedures and importance
- Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to clients when needed
- Assist with extending the development of our Externship for local Medical Programs
- Acquire and review medical and billing records throughout the treatment phase of the case as needed, familiar with ICD-10 and CPT-IV
Qualifications:
- State Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Medical Records review experience desired
- 2 or more years of medical experience preferred in one or more of the following: Primary Care, Emergency Room/Urgent Care, Orthopedic or Neurology
- Teaching ability: desire to share information directly contributes the success of others
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills on the phone, in person and email
- Advanced Research skills
- Proven success in meeting expectations as part of a team
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information
- Superb organizational and time management skills; meticulous attention to detail
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by leadership
- Law firm experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
- Stand/Sit – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Walk – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc.
- Use of hands/fingers to handle or feel – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
- Climbs stairs – May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
- Carry weight/lift - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
