As a Senior Data Governance Associate, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, and effective use of our data across various systems. You will lead data governance initiatives, working closely with cross-functional departments and leadership to ensure compliance with data governance standards and support our core systems. Additionally, you will focus on optimizing data quality, integrity, and compliance while overseeing the management and implementation of key data management practices, including potential team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and manage data governance and MDM initiatives, collaborating with various departments to promote best practices and support organizational goals.
- Monitor, report on, and improve data governance metrics and performance across the organization.
- Provide training and ongoing support to staff on data governance policies and procedures.
- Work with vendors and internal teams to optimize data management tools, processes, and systems, ensuring alignment with governance standards.
- Support the management and optimization of principal systems (e.g., ERP, HRIS, case management systems like Filevine) to maintain data integrity.
- Assist with the integration of data management software and tools, such as Palantir, Data Sentinel, Qlik, and ETL tools.
- Potentially lead a team to ensure efficient execution of data governance initiatives and the overall quality of data systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in data governance, MDM, or a related field.
- Preferably 2+ years of experience in a law firm environment.
- Previous exposure to case management systems such as Filevine is a plus.
- Proficiency with data management software and tools, including Palantir, Data Sentinel, Qlik, and ETL tools.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, best practices, and the ability to apply them to organizational systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Previous management experience is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
- Stand/Sit – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Walk – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc.
- Use of hands/fingers to handle or feel – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
- Climbs stairs – May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
- Carry weight/lift - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
