Position Summary:
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining comprehensive training materials and documentation. This role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to translate complex concepts into clear and accessible content, and strong collaboration skills to work effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other team members. The ideal candidate will have a background in technical writing, or a related field and a passion for developing high-quality training resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and maintain training manuals, user guides, e-learning content, quick reference guides, and other instructional materials.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging content suitable for a diverse audience.
- Ensure all documentation is aligned with company standards and guidelines.
- Work closely with SMEs, trainers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and validate content.
- Conduct usability testing and gather feedback from end-users to continuously improve documentation and training materials.
- Organize and manage a library of training documents, ensuring they are easily accessible to the training team and other employees.
- Maintain version control of all training materials and ensure that obsolete documents are archived appropriately.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably within a training or educational environment.
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles and experience creating content for various learning formats.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
- Stand/Sit – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Walk – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc.
- Use of hands/fingers to handle or feel – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
- Climbs stairs – May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
- Carry weight/lift - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
