Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for leading month-end, quarterly, and year-end close processes, reconciling financial statements, and preparing budgets and forecasts. This role requires a strong command of general ledger accounting and double-entry bookkeeping, as well as the ability to perform in-depth financial analysis, including profit and loss and KPI reporting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced Excel skills, exceptional attention to detail, and strong communication abilities to convey financial data clearly. With a focus on maintaining internal controls, managing accounting projects, and ensuring data integrity, the Senior Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform month-end, quarterly and year end close procedures
• Reconcile monthly bank statements
• Prepare annual budget and forecasting
• Perform analyses such as profit and loss and key performance indicators
• Manage accounting projects
• Identify and maintain internal controls and procedures
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting with double entry book-keeping
• Maintains data integrity of all Accounting systems
• Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate financial concepts and data
• Excellent critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Maintains unwavering confidentiality and integrity
• Performs other duties as required.
Work Experience Requirements:
• Five years’ experience in a similar role
• Experience involving multi-state/multi-business unit entities
• Public accounting experience within a personal injury law firm is a plus
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
• CPA or CPA candidate required
Physical Requirements:
• Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
• Stationary Position – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
• Move or Traverse – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc. May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
• Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
• Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
• Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess - The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
