We are seeking an Associate to join Withum’s Corporate Value Consulting (CVC) Group – a select team of experts who provide critical financial analysis support to clients. The CVC team supports clients (and their legal counsel) by delivering insightful analyses and expert testimony across a broad spectrum of cases – from forensic accounting investigations and economic damages assessments to transaction support, business valuation projects, ownership/shareholder disputes, insolvency proceedings, and complex bankruptcy matters. You’ll gain exposure to a variety of industries and challenging assignments, all requiring a keen analytical mindset and unwavering attention to detail.

As a CVC Associate, you will work side-by-side with experienced valuation professionals at every stage of an engagement. You will dive into data to uncover facts, build financial models to value businesses or quantify losses, and help craft reports that clearly communicate our findings. You’ll also play a key role in ensuring our analyses stand up to scrutiny in legal and business proceedings. This hands-on role offers immediate responsibility and learning opportunities – your work will directly support transactions and client decisions. With guidance from senior team members, you’ll sharpen your quantitative skills and business acumen in real time. Over time, you will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise and even chart a path toward becoming an expert yourself, as you grow within Withum’s CVC Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Investigations: Examine accounting records, transaction histories, and other financial evidence to identify irregularities or different activities in engagements.
  • Valuation Analysis: Develop and refine financial models (in Excel or specialized software) to value businesses, securities, and intangible assets for disputes, transactions, or financial reporting purposes.
  • Litigation Support: Analyze economic damages and lost profits in legal disputes (e.g. contract breaches, insurance claims), and provide insightful financial analysis to support attorneys in resolving shareholder, partnership, and post-acquisition disputes.
  • Research & Collaboration: Conduct industry and economic research to contextualize findings and strengthen our analyses. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (audit, tax, consulting) to gather information and deliver comprehensive solutions to clients.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Econometrics, Statistics, Computer Science (with financial concentration), Engineering (with financial concentration), or Finance from an accredited program, with a strong academic record (GPA 3.7+ preferred).
  • Certification: Candidate for the CFA exam (actively pursuing CFA licensure or already passed parts of the exam).
  • Experience: 1+ year of relevant experience in Finance or equivalent internship experience in a rigorous, analytical role (e.g. consulting, investment banking, private equity). Prior exposure to forensic accounting or valuation work is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional quantitative and analytical ability to dissect complex financial data, identify trends/anomalies, and draw insightful conclusions. Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to explain financial concepts and findings in a clear, concise manner.
  • Organization & Teamwork: Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative, inclusive mindset.
  • Drive & Adaptability: Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn. Adaptable to new challenges, new industries, and evolving client needs in a fast-paced environment.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
