Your role as Withum’s Communications Specialist is to unify Withum’s internal communications under one brand voice, assist in driving awareness and consideration of Withum’s internal initiatives, and share what makes Withum unique in the marketplace. You will also help expand the reach of Withum’s brand by creating engaging content that will resonate with target audiences and support public relations efforts to gain market exposure and voice. You will develop relationships with firm leadership and department heads to design and implement various internal communications solutions to build and support Withum’s Team Member communications plans across various departments. You will create content that amplifies Withum’s culture and engages team members, strategizing and tracking best practices to amplify Withum’s brand internally and create actionable engagement through diverse internal communication mediums. You will work with a dynamic team of marketing professionals and report to Withum’s Director of Communications.

Primary responsibilities:

INTERNAL CONTENT COORDINATION AND CREATION

Work with Director of Communications on executing an internal content strategy that aligns with firm business goals.

  • Content Creation:
    • Createing and editing high-value content across various internal communication platforms, supporting firm culture and go-to-market strategies.
    • Partnering with the design team to produce high-quality short to medium form content, including multimedia.
  • Campaign Development:
    • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and industry marketers to brainstorm, plan, develop, review and execute internal communication campaigns with effective, compelling, meaningful messaging that resonates with our people.
  • Data-driven Optimization:
    • Monitoring and analyzing content performance with Director of Communications to refine strategies and improve engagement.
  • Content Management:
    • Creating and populating an internal editorial calendar to support Firm communications.
    • Assisting in safeguarding content quality, brand tone of voice and style across the Firm’s internal communication channels and materials.
  • Always Learning:
    • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, competitors, and emerging content marketing and internal communications best practices.
    • Contributing to the on-going development of the Firm’s writing and digital content style guides.

MEDIA RELATIONS

  • Relationship Management
    • Acting as the Firm liaison for media inquiries and Withum’s Subject Matter Experts.
    • Building and managing relationships with editors at industry-specific, regional, national and international centers of influence and the accounting profession as a whole.
    • Assisting in maintaining the database of press and media contacts within the media monitoring and distribution tool.
  • Content Creation
    • Developing impactful stories and for press and media distribution.
    • Coordinating inbound content publication requests, providing guidance and feedback to ensure consistent quality, tone and voice.
    • Highlighting our professionals through award submissions to elevate Withum’s brand eminence.
  • Data-driven Optimization:
    • Reviewing metrics on press releases to identify areas of opportunity for future exposure and share findings with the Director of Communications and Industry/Service Marketers.
    • Monitoring and identifying trends in topic traction and publication exposure to create content that engages Withum’s brand and SMEs in conversations to build authority and drive awareness.
  • Content Management:
    • Creating and populating an editorial calendar to support the Firm’s press and media strategy.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field.
  • Familiarity with AI writing tools (e.g., Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity.ai, Claude.ai, Grammarly etc.).
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools (e.g., Cision and similar platforms).
  • Creative, innovative and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into relevant, engaging, easy-to-digest thoughts.

  • Excellent command of grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Bonus Skillls:

  • Public relations/journalism experience.
  • Content Marketing background.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) familiarity.
  • Professional service firm background.
  • SharePoint familiarity.
  • AP Style familiarity.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism/public relations, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in internal communications/employee engagement experience, organizational strategic communications, or related field.

In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual’s skills, experience, and qualifications. New York City ranges are from $50,000 - $60,000 annually
