About Wolt

At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.

Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.

The Payments Fraud Team at Wolt focuses on solving complex problems related to payment risk, fraud detection, and prevention. The team’s mission is to quantify, analyse, and find data-driven solutions for areas of payment fraud that are currently not supported in any analytically driven manner. To do this, the team works to understand and mitigate fraudulent behaviour, safeguard user transactions, and support the growth of a trusted payments ecosystem across Wolt’s global operations.

We collaborate closely with Product Leads, Operations Team Leads, Analytics Engineers, and Applied Scientists to deliver high-quality analytical outputs that directly impact fraud reduction and business outcomes. Our work covers deep dives, metric creation, experimentation, and advanced analytics for fraud-related initiatives — but our scope frequently expands to tackle new and emerging areas within Wolt’s Payments and Growth domains.

The role

In this role, you will join a highly autonomous and analytical team, taking full ownership of fraud-related initiatives within Wolt’s Payments domain. You’ll be responsible for leading end-to-end analytics workstreams — from hypothesis formulation and data exploration to experimentation and actionable insights — all focused on combating payment fraud and driving business success.

This isn’t a typical Data Science role. You’ll combine strong technical skills in SQL, Python/R, and statistics with a commercial and growth mindset. You will act as the analytics owner for Payment Fraud, defining metrics, performing deep dives, and building sophisticated frameworks and AI-enhanced tools to support decision-making and productivity improvements across the organisation.

What you’ll be doing

Day-to-day activities

  • Own and deliver analytical projects tied to Payment Fraud team goals, ensuring high-quality deliverables and measurable business impact.
  • Define success metrics, conduct deep dives, and drive experimentation for the Payments Fraud area.
  • Use AI to enhance coding, productivity, and problem-solving across fraud detection and prevention workflows.
  • Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Engineering teams to align analytical insights with product and business strategies.
  • Support the Payments Growth Manager in shaping frameworks and methodologies that expand the analytical surface area of Payment Fraud.

Our humble expectations*

You’re not the typical Data Scientist. You have a strong statistical foundation, programming ability, and an autonomous mindset that allows you to drive fraud-related initiatives independently. You’re motivated by business impact, curious about how to use data to protect and grow the company, and able to balance rigour with practical delivery.

  • Must haves:

    • Ability to program in SQL and Python/R
    • Statistical know-how and ability to apply it in a business context
    • Autonomy in managing end-to-end analytical projects

  • Nice to haves:

    • Commercial and growth mindset
    • Formal statistical training or academic background

  • Experience:

    • 3–5 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a quantitative field with exposure to fraud detection, payments, or risk analytics preferred.
    • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and drive initiatives that lead to measurable outcomes.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

We’re committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company, industry, and cities. That’s why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table and the tools, resources, and opportunity to excel.
