About Wolt

At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.

Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.

Wolt is building the future of local commerce, right in your pocket. To make this possible, we develop a wide range of technologies, including retail and merchant tools, advertising and growth solutions, fulfillment and last mile delivery and financial solutions. As part of our New Verticals business, we also operate our own grocery stores under the Wolt Market brand. Our ambition is big, and so are the legal questions that come with launching and scaling different business lines across our 30+ countries.

We are now looking for a generalist Legal Counsel to join our Legal team based in Berlin, who is comfortable working across a broad range of legal topics. Your primary responsibility areas will be supporting our market in Germany as well as other European markets, with a focus on commercial law and regulatory as well as other industry relevant matters. Wolt is part of DoorDash, one of the world’s leading local commerce platforms. You will be part of a joint global legal organization and collaborate with DoorDash and Deliveroo legal colleagues to share learnings and identify opportunities to work together.

What you’ll be doing

Day-to-day in this role you’ll:

  • Support the Director Legal Germany with identifying and proactively managing risk across the business
  • Act as a trusted legal partner to the business, providing clear and pragmatic advice on a wide range of commercial and operational matters.
  • Serve as a point of contact for legal queries, supporting stakeholders across multiple functions with timely and solution-oriented guidance.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with business objectives while managing legal risk.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Retail, Sales and other business lines, supporting their specific legal needs and enabling business growth.
  • Collaborate with international legal colleagues at DoorDash and Deliveroo to ensure alignment and consistency across jurisdictions and legal processes and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of legal templates, processes and ways of working to enhance efficiency and scalability of legal support.
  • Support strategic projects and initiatives including compliance, helping the business move fast while staying compliant and well-informed from a legal perspective.

Our humble expectations*

  • Fully qualified German lawyer (First and Second State Exam) with 5+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally with at least some experience gained in an in-house environment.
  • Strong expertise in commercial law, with the ability to independently handle and advise on a broad range of business-critical matters.
  • Demonstrate strong AI fluency, including a proactive and responsible approach to using AI tools to enhance legal analysis, improve efficiency, and support business decision-making
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments, collaborating closely with teams such as Marketing, Retail and Sales to find practical, business-friendly solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English (written and spoken), enabling you to operate confidently in an international setting; Polish language skills are a plus.
  • A structured and pragmatic way of working, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, stay focused under pressure and adapt quickly to new topics.
  • A collaborative and approachable mindset, paired with strong stakeholder management skills and a genuine willingness to take ownership and grow with the role.

What we offer
