We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our People Apps & Automation team, building the internal applications and automation that power the employee experience across DoorDash and Wolt.

This team develops the platforms behind employee lifecycle processes, HR systems, self-service experiences, and business automation used by thousands of employees globally. As Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team of talented software engineers while driving technical strategy, delivering high-impact initiatives, and partnering closely with stakeholders across Engineering, IT, HR, and Product.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of software engineers across multiple locations.
  • Own the technical direction and delivery of internal applications that improve the employee experience.
  • Partner with Product, HR, IT, and business stakeholders to understand priorities and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive architecture decisions, engineering best practices, and continuous improvements across the team's codebase and development processes.
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives from planning through successful delivery.
  • Balance delivery, technical quality, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Help modernize and consolidate internal platforms as DoorDash and Wolt continue integrating systems.
  • Foster an AI-first engineering culture by adopting AI-assisted development tools and identifying opportunities to embed AI into internal applications and automation.
  • Create an environment where engineers can grow, collaborate, and do their best work while delivering meaningful business impact.

Our humble expectations

  • Bring significant software engineering experience, ideally 8+ years building scalable production systems.
  • Have previous experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Be comfortable balancing technical leadership with people leadership.
  • Have strong full-stack development experience using technologies such as React, Node.js, and Python.
  • Bring experience designing scalable software architectures and cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Have a track record of successfully delivering large cross-functional engineering initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve alongside business needs.
  • Be passionate about leveraging AI to improve software development, engineering productivity, and internal products.
  • A collaborative, pragmatic, and ownership-driven mindset.

This is a highly technical leadership role. The interview process includes a live coding and architecture interview, followed by conversations focused on engineering leadership, operational delivery, cross-functional collaboration, and DoorDash's leadership principles. You'll also meet future peers and business partners to learn more about the team and how we work together.
