Manager, Human Resources

WongDoody has an immediate opening for Manager, Human Resources who will join forces with the current People team to lead strategic and operational Human Resources activities for the North America team.  

In this role, the Manager, Human Resources will serve as a key business partner (HRBP) to assigned departments working to support team members at all levels throughout the employee lifecycle.  

Alongside the AVP, People the Manager, Human Resources will aid leaders in planning and managing their people-related needs in support of business objectives. From employee relations coaching opportunities to learning & development initiatives and total rewards strategy – no two days are ever the same! 

Ideally this person will sit in one of our offices, Seattle, LA or NYC. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Under the direction of AVP, People, support key pillars of the Human Resources practice: 

HR Administration: 

  • Support teammate compliance with all WongDoody and parent company employment policies and procedures
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of relevant U.S. and state-specific employment laws and regulations
  • Execute and manage all administrative and operational processes and requirements related to Department teams’ people needs
  • Update and maintain all HR systems
  • Actively network within the industry and IL subsidiary HR community 

Relationship Management:                    

  • Build and maintain strong, trusting, productive relationships with Department leads, as well as a deep understanding of the specific roles and responsibilities within each department
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships to drive consistency and operational efficiency and share best practices 

     Performance Management: 

  • In collaboration with AVP, People, plan and implement a performance management strategy across the Department teams that aligns with established guidelines and priorities to optimize teammate performance
  • Assist in the establishment and promotion of WongDoody’s performance philosophy, supporting managers and teammates in executing annual processes
  • Strategize and implement programs designed to enhance teammate performance, build engagement, and reduce turnover
  • Assist in resolving disagreements and disputes, leading termination processes, and supporting the company in any litigation proceedings, as necessary
  • Coach managers on all aspects of teammate relations to continually drive individual and team performance

WHAT YOU'VE GOT

  • 5+ years of Human Resources management with proven success in talent management, teammate relations, recruiting, performance management, and compensation and benefits administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area
  • Experience navigating HR landscape with hybrid employee work structure and matrixed teams
  • Solid knowledge state of California is essential
  • Creative agency experience highly preferred
  • Exposure to various staffing structures (FTE, Contract, Vendor)
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills to effectively manage relationships with teammates at all levels of the organization, including leadership
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills
  • Experience coaching mid-level leaders to improve leadership performance and manage people issues
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to translate complex, strategic topics into specific, understandable goals, action plans, and deliverables
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in identifying needs, developing and executing action plans, and presenting outcomes and recommendations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including dynamic presentation skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate
