Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring highly skilled Data Scientists to join our team, working on site at National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) East in Springfield, Virginia, NGA West in St. Louis, MO, and NGA CENTCOM in Tampa, FL.

The NGA Senior Exploitation Specialist/Data Scientist is responsible for creating processes around large data sets to identify analytical discoveries and provide them through visualizations that are easily integrated into daily operations. The Data Scientist will operate at a senior level and in an independent environment, providing data science analyses to the client’s intelligence missions.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a mission-focused environment where your contributions will directly impact the effectiveness and efficiency of GEOINT operations within the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. Responsibilities:

As an NGA Senior Exploitation Specialist/Data Scientist at Woolpert, you will be tasked with:

  • Leading projects using advanced mathematical, statistical, and scientific techniques and principles
  • Analyzing complex mission and operational problems, creating insights from data to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
  • Supporting data analytics, data cleansing, and analyst workflow efficiencies
  • Improving and supporting Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) capabilities
  • Applying statistical and analytic methods to solve intelligence problems and support mission requirements
  • Building lightweight analytic tools to visualize results that can be applied to intelligence operations
  • Designing methods and mechanisms to track, report, and monitor mission data objects and datasets, enabling operators to maintain custody of those objects for various orders of battle

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
    • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • A background with intelligence experience:
    • Must have a background where you have provided analysis and/or data science to an intelligence mission
    • Must be able to operate at a senior level and in an independent environment - you will be some of the only data science support these offices receive directly
  • Data science experience:
    • Must be proficient in creating processes around large data sets to identify analytical discoveries
    • Must be able to provide these discoveries through visualizations that can be easily integrated into daily operations
    • Must be proficient in Python to build analytic tools, support and enhance ETL processes, and for data cleaning, preparation, visualization, and statistical analysis
    • Must be able to apply structured processes to enrich or manage data
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and written with clarity and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field; degree counts toward total years of experience
  • GEOINT data and analysis experience
    • Experience applying GEOINT standards and performing QA/QC
  • Experience working on site at NGA, preferably in a complex organizational environment
  • Ability to work closely with customers, identifying and providing necessary training and support
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify performance improvements, optimize data workflows, and develop solutions
  • Up to date on the latest industry trends and emerging best practices in GIS and GEOINT data analysis, management, governance, quality, and stewardship
