Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position would be aligned with our office in New York City, NY, Orlando, FL or Coral Gables, FL and would support full-time in-person or hybrid working arrangements.

This position is responsible for leading engineering projects, supporting strategic and KPI goals, contributing to proposals, overseeing project scope, schedule, and fee, and ensuring effective resources are assigned to projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. This role includes performing mechanical HVAC engineering technical work on complex projects, mentoring staff, applying proficiency in designing, analyzing, and reviewing MEP/FP systems to ensure safety, sustainability, and compliance with industry standards. What You Will Do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Woolpert:

  • Lead mechanical HVAC engineering technical work for complex projects.
  • Track project progress, including scope, schedule, and fee.
  • Oversee technical review and provide high quality deliverables.
  • Develop and modify models, plans, details, and drawings of mechanical and plumbing engineering systems and components according to established standards and modeling techniques.
  • In depth knowledge for team guidance of energy modeling, load calculations, and LCCA analysis using modeling software and techniques.
  • In depth knowledge for team guidance of mechanical design for various systems including plant design, fuel piping, steam systems, boilers, cooling towers/chillers, geothermal, and other.
  • Support career development and technical skill advancement of team members.

  • Deliver presentations at conferences, networking events, and professional organizations to highlight the distinctive and innovative services Woolpert offers to clients.
  • Conduct training sessions for internal employees when necessary.

What You Will Bring:

  • BA/BS or MA/MS in related field and fifteen (15) years related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
  • Minimum of five (7) years of experience leading engineering projects.
  • Experience with building HVAC system design for commercial, mixed-use, aviation, hospitality, and/or high-rise preferred.
  • Experience designing sustainable building systems, including familiarity with LEED, Green Building Institute, or other sustainability credentialing.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Expert verbal and written communication abilities for both internal and external relationships.
  • Experience with discipline related software applications and calculation tools.
  • Substantial experience designing in Autodesk Revit 3-D modeling software and directing the preparation of construction documents.
  • Experience conducting and leading QAQC and coordination of design documents between disciplines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents including scientific and technical journals, handbooks, and industry information.
  • Proficient in use of MS Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and MS Office suite.
  • Ability to provide effective responses to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Able to write technical opinions, articles, and thought leadership social media using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
  • Willing to travel to project sites or offices, as needed.

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay Range

$139,200 - $208,800 USD
