Sr. Manager, EHS Operational Excellence

Position Overview:

Supports the effective development and implementation of Woolpert’s Global EHS programs, tools and proactive safety initiatives to drive a high-performance safety and compliance culture. Supports the development and implementation of behavior-based safety practices, ensures compliance with global regulatory agencies, supports implementation of new systems, tools and processes, leverages advanced data and analytics techniques to drive systematic performance improvement, and liaises with cross-functional teams to support management of change and other proactive initiatives across all business lines.

What you will do:

  • Lead governance/accountability for compliance and continuous improvement, and support development of global, proactive EHS programs to identify and mitigate risk and drive timely EHS action closure
  • Support change management with global alignment of various EHS programs, policies and tools
  • Support EHS Director in assessing acquisition risk and integration of new acquisitions into Woolpert’s EHS Management System
  • Establish and refine overall EHS metrics reporting and develop tools and processes to automate and streamline reporting to support business needs. Leverage data and analytics to identify incident trends and recommend policy changes to drive systematic EHS improvement
  • Manage global EHS policy and procedure development, revision, update, translation and deployment to field units
  • Engage with global executive leadership, managers and frontline employees to cultivate a shared commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement, integrating safety-first planning across all phases of work
  • Lead and inspire action in dynamic and rapidly changing business conditions; drive proactive change through effective communication and leadership
  • Utilize robust KPIs and reporting metrics with leading and lagging indicators to proactively address risk factors and drive operational accountability throughout all business lines. Effective 12.01.2025
  • Support operations’ EHS coordinators in development of comprehensive risk assessments and hazard analyses programs and tools (e.g. bowtie analysis, strength of defenses matrices, ergonomics assessments, IH risk assessments, etc.) to identify potential safety hazards and mitigate associated risks
  • Drive continuous improvement mindset. Provide thought leadership and inspire change at all levels in the organization with intensity and integrity. Remove barriers through effective problem solving and coordination with internal partners
  • Serve as key strategic partner for the Director of EHS
  • Other duties as assigned

What you will bring:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Health or related field required
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in EHS roles required
    • Project Management experience required
    • Valid Driver's License Required
    • Strong knowledge of US (OSHA 1910, 1926, CAA, CWA, etc.) regulations
    • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other SaaS tools
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to collect data, analyze global issues, and recommend improvements
    • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple project teams
    • Strong organization and time management abilities
    • Willingness and ability to work in field settings, including active construction sites
    • Ability to manage global initiatives from initiation to completion
  • Preferred:
    • Master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in EHS roles in the AEC industry preferred
    • Experience in implementation of global EHS programs preferred
    • Proven track record of delivering on commitments, and completing projects on-time, within budget and of high quality preferred
    • PMP, CHMM, CSP, CIH or any other EHS related professional certifications preferred
    • Lean Six Sigma training/qualifications (green belt/black belt) preferred
    • Familiarity with ISO 45001 / 14001 management systems
    • Deep knowledge of global EHS regulations and best practices, with a track record of successful program development and implementation
    • Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Excellent data and analytical skills, and experience with EHS software systems, including administration
    • Resilient self-starter who can operate autonomously and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence EHS in a cross-functional, matrixed environment. Skills in appropriate Change Management
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to walk, stand, climb, and navigate uneven terrain on active project sites
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
    • Work environments may include outdoor job sites, varying weather conditions, and use of PPE
    • Office‑based work may include extended periods working on a computer.

Pay Range

$139,200 - $156,000 USD
