Position Overview
Woolpert is hiring a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team, working in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Analysis Office on site at United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Headquarters, located on MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.
The NGA Senior Exploitation Specialist (Data Scientist) position is responsible for automating cross-functional workflows, optimizing digital transfers, and modernizing production processes. The Data Scientist will operate at a senior or expert level, developing and improving data automation and integration processes to support intelligence operations.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a mission-focused environment where your contributions will directly impact the effectiveness and efficiency of GEOINT operations within the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. What You Will Do:
As an NGA Senior Exploitation Specialist/Data Scientist at Woolpert, you will be tasked with:
- Leading projects using advanced mathematical, statistical, and scientific techniques and principles
- Serving as the technical lead for automating cross-functional workflows, optimizing digital transfers, and modernizing production processes
- Analyzing complex mission and operational problems, creating insights from data to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
- Supporting data analytics, data cleansing, and analyst workflow efficiencies
- Improving and supporting Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) capabilities
- Applying statistical and analytic methods to solve intelligence problems and support mission requirementsVisualizing trends, insights, and analytical discoveries for large and complex datasets
- Building lightweight analytic tools that can apply data trends, insights, and discoveries to intelligence operations
- Designing methods and mechanisms to track, report, and monitor mission data objects and datasets, enabling operators to maintain custody of those objects for various orders of battle
- Integrating disparate systems via API development and implementation
- Developing and implementing automation solutions to streamline workflows, enhance digital transfer processes, and optimize GEOINT content delivery across the internal and external enterprise
What You Will Bring:
- U.S. citizenship
- Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment background check and drug screening
- DoD IC or NGA intelligence experience:
- Must have senior-level proficiency in Python with demonstrated experience in designing mission ready solutions
- Must have experience querying and integrating web APIs through Python to retrieve, normalize, and operationalize data
- Must have experience developing interactive data visualizations using Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib, Bokeh, or comparable tools
- Must have experience building dashboards and analytic interfaces using Dash, Streamlit, Panel, Tableau, or similar platforms
- Must have strong SQL skills and experience querying relational databases.
- Must have experience using Git-based version control platforms such as GitLab or GitHub
- Must have proficiency with geospatial processing frameworks such as GDAL or ArcPy.
- Must have experience proficiency with GIS desktop software such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
- Ability to write clear, concise technical documentation related to software systems and automated workflows
- Ability to operate independently at a senior level with limited oversight
- Familiarity with USSOCOM and broader U.S. military organizational structures
- Familiarity with common Intelligence Community (IC) data repositories
- The following experience is favored:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field; degree counts toward total years of experience
- GEOINT data and analysis experience
- Experience applying GEOINT standards and performing QA/QC
- Experience working on site at NGA, preferably in a complex organizational environment
- Ability to work closely with customers, identifying and providing necessary training and support
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify performance improvements, optimize data workflows, and develop solutions
- Up to date on the latest industry trends and emerging best practices in GIS and GEOINT data analysis, management, governance, quality, and stewardship

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Pay Range
$155,000 - $180,000 USD
