About Backbase

Backbase creates the market-leading software platform that enables banks across the world to deliver a great user experience to their customers.  Fintech is one of the hottest markets at the moment and there is enormous scope for talented UI/UX designers to improve the banking user experience. Our Lending product team is at the centre of a global transformation, creating products that impact millions of people on a daily basis.

Backbase is committed to delivering world class design.  It’s a core part of our value proposition to our customers, worldwide. So we have a real design team of over 70 UI/UX designers and 8 researchers, with solid processes and strong support from the business. Design’s culture is dynamic, passionate and fun. We are looking for someone who will be a great addition to this team, bringing creativity, passion, and experience.

Meet the job

You will be designing mobile and web experiences within Backbase’s Lending value stream. You’ll focus on product capabilities that enable business users to manage their finances efficiently, and make good financial decisions. These capabilities will need to cater for the needs of users in micro, small and medium sized business segments.

You’ll be a critical member of your product team, working directly with product and development team leaders across the full product lifecycle. You’ll use workshopping, sketching, prototyping, user testing, and hi-fi designs to take stories and projects  from concept all the way through to elegant finished design. You’ll also spend time with your design colleagues for support, ideas and fun.

While the role is primarily focused on UX, we are also looking for someone who is competent with UI design. You’ll need to create hi-fidelity layouts and occasionally to design new components.

About you

You love conceptualising and designing solutions that are easy, powerful and delightful for people to use.  You’ve got experience keeping users front-of-mind throughout the innovation process, to drive the delivery of a world-class user experience. You know how to persuade and engage stakeholders and colleagues across the organisation, to make good design happen. You have a systematic and reliable approach to working out what needs to be done, and making sure it happens on time. You’re meticulous and thoughtful about the user experiences you design.

To really take this role to the next level, we think you’ll need:

  • 5+ years experience designing UI/UX for web and mobile applications;
  • Experience with complex, info-heavy products and interactions (e.g. forms, security, data, workflows) in a business environment;
  •  A strong understanding of interaction design fundamentals, processes and methods;
  • Solid UI design skills, so you can assemble clear and appealing designs using design language and design system elements, and create customer components occasionally;
  • Figma as your tool of choice;
  • A passionate and a determined advocate for best-practice design methodologies and technologies;
  • A desire to work in the fintech space, and bonus points if you already have experience here;
  • An eagerness to learn, but also to teach and mentor;
  • A strong online portfolio demonstrating your work. Please include the link in your resume. We love to see the entire end-to-end process of your work!
  • Already located in Kraków
  • Ready to come 2 times per week to the office
